Former ‘Flipping Out’ Star Gage Edward Sues Ex Jeff Lewis; Wants Child Support, Split Custody & His Last Name Added to Their Daughter’s Name

“Cough it up, Jeff!”

The nasty custody battle between former Flipping Out stars Jeff Lewis and Gage Edwards just got even nastier!

On Wednesday Jeff revealed on his Jeff Lewis Live radio show that his ex Gage has filed a lawsuit against him, requesting legal support, 50/50 shared custody of their daughter Monroe, and that Monroe’s name be changed to include Gage’s last name as well.

Jeff— who has been very vocal on his radio show about his split from Gage since the couple separated in January 2019—told his listeners that Gage and his lawyer listed their demands in court papers that he was served.

“[They] did file a request for order, which means that we now have a hearing date,” Jeff said. “And they put in all their requests, like I want 50 percent and I want child support and all that.”

“How you gonna do me like that, Gage?!”

He also expressed his unhappiness that Gage wants the last name “Edward” be added to Monroe’s last name. Jeff revealed that Edward is not even Gage’s legal last name; it’s actually Gage’s middle name that he’s been using as a last name professionally for years.

Jeff told his listeners that he feels it’s “crazy” to add Edward to Monroe’s name since it’s not even Gage’s real last name.

(Currently Monroe’s full name is Monroe Christine Lewis, but Gage wants it to be changed to Monroe Christine Edward Lewis.)

Jeff said his three-year-old daughter knows her full name and that he doesn’t want her to have to relearn it if Gage’s name was added.

My New Year’s Eve date. ❤️🥳

This is not the first time Gage has turned to the law for help in his co-parenting relationship with Jeff. Last month, Jeff stated on his radio show that Gage’s attorneys had sent him a cease-and-desist letter, demanding he stop talking about the co-parenting of Monroe on his radio show. In true Jeff fashion, though, the former ‘Flipping Out’ star, well, flipped out.

“I never signed a confidentiality agreement,” Jeff said on-air. “There’s no deal points going back and forth. These are just conversations Gage and I are having. I feel like I’m paid to talk about my life. I’m paid to do that. When Gage met me, I was on a reality show, and I was paid to film my life. He participated in that for seven years and was paid to share his life.

“We went into the radio together; he was paid to share our lives on the radio. Now, that doesn’t suit him, so he wants that to stop. Well, he’s already a public person,” Jeff said, adding that Gage had accused him of talking about the Monroe situation on-air for attention.

As The Ashley previously told you, Jeff and Gage managed to come to a temporary custody agreement for Monroe in August 2019; however, Jeff revealed on his radio show in October that things between he and Gage had soured yet again. He later banned Gage from speaking to any of his employees at Jeff Lewis Design, where Gage used to work.

To date, no official custody plan for Monroe has been worked out.

  1. That’s never been a secret that Jeff is a control freak & I believe Gage probably didn’t mind they were together for along time. They both need to get over it & parent their child! It’s not one persons fault it’s both! 2 sides truth in the middle! Your child has enough love to go around!

Jeff is a mess. Ultra control freak who Bravo let go. He tried to control everyone and now s fighting for the dim light fot the attention he tries to demand. Best to his daughter and wonderful Gage! You can’t buy true love and friendship Jeff! You fired more people who know the REAL you behind that creepy ass smirk!

  4. I read another article about these guys about how the daughter calls her nanny “mom” and how Jeff completely ignores her and doesn’t know how to handle it. He spoke about it on an interview recently and said “well her mom sued me, so she’s not going to be meeting her mom” 😕 Is their surrogate Monroe’s biological mother? Either way, it’s not gonna be in Monroe’s best interest to one day hear that she’s “not going to be meeting mom”. That’s so confusing for a little kid! Come on

    1. That’ll be sad when Jeff has a falling out with the nanny (with Jeff, it’s inevitable) and Monroe will lose that close maternal figure. The nanny is probably sucking it up and taking Jeff’s abuse just to stay close to Monroe.

    2. The surrogate did sue Jeff so yes he made a joke that Monroe won’t meet mom. She was never going to meet her anyway. Jeff uses shock humor so he phrased it like that. Monroe isn’t going to hear that statement from Jeff because it’s not a serious thought.

  5. Gage already agreed to her name when she was born so it’s weird he wants to change it now.

Monroe is Gage’s daughter too and usually with divorces I’m CA parents get 50/50 and the parent with less income gets child support. I understand jeffs frustration but I think he needs to just settle. It’s in Monroe’s best interest to have two equally loving households.

  6. Jeff needs to stop talking about th horrible situation he has w/ his daughter’s OTHER parent. Because it’s actually going to confuse Monroe when she eventually ( and she will) learn about how Jeff bad mouthed Gage.

  7. I know this will be unpopular but I think Gage needs to take a step back. Not that he needs to disappear from her life, but they were never married, he has no biological tie to her and was only in her life, as Jeff’s partner, for 2 years before moving out. Seems like he’s trying to make himself much more significant than he truly was.

    1. Biological or not, Monroe is just as much Gage’s child as she is Jeff’s. Even Jeff doesn’t contest that.

      1. It brings up an interesting possibility of step-parents having custody and visitation rights of their spouse’s children, after that relationship dissolves. Having played a significant parental role in the child’s life, then should they also be allowed rights when the marriage dissolves?

        1. But gage isn’t a stepparent though, he’s Monroe’s full father. If a straight couple had a baby using donor sperm because the man had an accident as a child and couldn’t father a child, and when the kid was 2 years old the parents separated, would you feel the father should ‘take a step back’ because he’s not the child isn’t biologically his? GTOH with that nonsense.

        2. Like others have stated, Gage is not a step parent. Gage is on that birth certificate which doesn’t happen with step parents. Big difference.

          1. Biggest regret of Jeff’s life was ALLOWING Gage to put his name on Monroe’s birth certificate. (Which Jeff himself has said on his podcast!)

Gage was as responsible for Monroe as Jeff. They should share custody. The part about adding his name is rubbish. He agreed at the time of her birth and was ok with it he’s just doing this to get under Jeff’s skin. People talk about Jeff is controlling and so on but if you watched the show you know that gage gave as good as he got. He wasn’t just a silent partner. A lot of issues that they had with people at work were driven by gage. They both need to grow the hell up and raise this little girl the way she deserves.

    2. I actually agree. This back and forth and fighting is the worst possible thing for her. And Gage seems more motivated by money then anything else. Jeff should just pay him to go away and he can hire a surrogate and have his own baby.

    3. That’s not right, he had and has had legal rights to that child. Who he has bonded with and she is bonded with him. He had just as much rights and any other parent.

    4. When Jeff and Gage were together Gage took care of Monroe a lot more than Jeff did. Jeff even said that. So no Gage shouldn’t have to take a step back.

    5. I couldn’t agree more, I have never liked or trusted Gage & a big red flag was Zoilla not liking or trusting Gage either.
