‘The Hills: New Beginnings’ May Put Cast Under One Roof to Resume Filming of Season 2

OK, place your bets… who’s going to be the first roommate to completely lose it?

Season 2 of The Hills: New Beginnings may take on a whole new format in order to adhere to pandemic protocol.

The series, which was three episodes into production when filming was halted in March due to COVID-19, was initially set to resume filming at the end of July or in early August; however, last month MTV reportedly put an indefinite hold on the series, despite production company Evolution Media taking extreme precautions and adhering to county and network guidelines.

In an effort to resume production, TMZ reports that MTV and Evolution Media are now considering moving the cast of the reality TV series under one roof (or into the same complex) for a month or two to wrap up filming for Season 2.

Sources told the site that some believe having the cast in a bubble 24-7 would create even more contrived and unnecessary drama than usual, while others believe the format (which could resemble the Jersey Shore setup) would be great.

Producers reportedly don’t have to make a final call until October, when filming on the show is set to resume.

When ‘The Hills: New Beginnings’ does return, fans can expect to see cast members Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Justin Bobby Brescia, Frankie Delgado, Whitney Port, Brandon Thomas Lee, Jason WahlerKaitlynn Carter and new cast member Caroline D’Amore.

Mischa Barton will not return for the show’s second season, nor will Stephanie Pratt – the latter of whom announced her departure this summer after facing a wave of backlash on social media for suggesting violence be used against looters amid the nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd.

The show’s cast has yet to comment on the idea of being placed into a house together.
