Whitney Way Thore Finally Addresses Accusation That ‘My Big Fat Fabulous Life’ & Her Engagement to Chase Severino Were Scripted

“Listen up!”

As Whitney Way Thore prepares for viewers to watch her relationship with ex-fiancé Chase Severino crumble on the upcoming season of My Big Fat Fabulous Life, she’s firing back at those questioning the show’s authenticity.

Last season on ‘My Big Fat Fabulous Life,’ fans saw Whitney and Chase get engaged, however, things ultimately took a turn when Whitney announced in May that the two had split and Chase was expecting a baby with a woman “with whom he has a long history.”

Chase went on to welcome a daughter in September and in the trailer for the new season, viewers see Whitney tearfully confront her ex shortly after the child’s birth.

With the season premiere less than two weeks away, Whitney is now confronting fans of the show on social media who admitted to the TLC star they believed both ‘My Big Fat Fabulous Life’ and her relationship with Chase were “scripted.” The exchange (including Whitney’s lengthy response) went down in the comment section of Whitney’s recent Instagram post, in which she promoted the show and thanked fans for their well wishes regarding the demise of her relationship.

“I’m actually starting to do better and life feels pretty good,” she captioned her post before asking that her fans not “harass Chase” on her behalf. “None of that negativity helps. I’m just trying to move on and keep my sh*t together while this airs.”

In response to Whitney’s post, a fan commented that they liked the show, but thought Whitney’s relationship was scripted, to which Whitney replied, “negativity doesn’t help anyone.”

“[Whitney,] I don’t think [the fan] was being negative here,” another person commented. “Seems to be just making a statement. You have a lot of fans! We follow you and support you – But seems lately your posts are so unnecessarily defensive??”

Whitney went on to reply to the comments (and the allegations), telling the fan that for the last five years she’s dealt with people accusing every person in her life of “being an actor or actress, saying they wouldn’t be there if they weren’t getting paid.”

“Apparently no love interest has ever been real because HOW could a man want me or love me,” she continued. “If you’re lucky enough to have a romantic partner are you HONESTLY telling me you wouldn’t get offended if people speculated that it was fake because you were simply unlovable? Now imagine living in the public eye and that coming from strangers like yourself. I’m being UNNECESSARILY defensive? Jesus.”

‘My Big Fat Fabulous Life’ returns November 10 at 9/8c on TLC.

  1. I thought that too -what a horrible insult, that people assume “it can’t be real”, if an attractive guy is attracted to,(even fall in love with) Whitney.

I personally would crushed. They might as well just say “you’re ugly”.

I admit at first i also thought Chase was “playing a part” so he & Ryan could manipulate and scam her, but then I felt terrible- i think he truly did fall in love with her. She has genuine kindness & generosity in her heart, plus a great sense of humour and open mind.
    All the best gurl.

  2. She’s interpreting the question as fans saying she’s not lovable. Absolutely ridiculous, that’s not what they’re insinuating. When you’re famous, fame and/or money hungry people will flock to you, no matter your appearance or character. She’s twisting the question so she can deflect them. We can see right through you, girl…

  3. As I have said since this whole “love extravaganza “ began, it is fake, totally not believable and now that Thore has started to attempt to justify and represent this storyline as factual, it just comes across as more of a falsehood than ever. Their Paris behavior was completely bizarre, not even that of a just engaged couple. And Thore’s behavior when the news broke about the breakup, totally unrealistic and totally atypical for her when a relationship ends. In the past, she has bawled and stated in bed for weeks, an obvious meltdown. With the end of Chase, nothing for months so it’s too little too late. Not realistic at all and nothing they can do to try to represent this nonsense as a real relationship will never work for anyone who has a functioning brain cell. No hater here, just don’t appreciate my intelligence being grossly insulted. Just move on and let it go. You just look so foolish trying to convince everyone of the sincerity and existence of the relationship. You look and sound stupid. How convenient that it all came together complete with trip to city of love for romantic proposal and then ended in one show’ s season. And so what if he slept with someone one time, or that is how it appears to be represented, he made a mistake. If he wasn’t in love with this woman, why would that cause the demise of the forever relationship of Chase and Thore, baby or not? Makes no sense. We cry, we say we are sorry, we forgive and move on because we are still so in love. Again, how this was handled so unrealistic. Remember Whit, this is a reality show and you are not an actress which is painfully obvious with the latest production. Again, just let it go and don’t make it worse than it already is. What an absurd joke, and a bad joke at that.

  4. It’s a reality show, of course parts are scripted. She shouldn’t get her undies in a bundle over people asking. It has NOTHING to do with her weight or physical appearance. Frankly, part of the reason it’s suspicious is that it is her show and if he did her that dirty, why is she still allowing him to get a paycheck out of it?

  5. I don’t believe for a second that it was scripted but that Ryan dude is shady glad he’s out of the picture could smell him all the way from Minnesota. Keep ur head up Whitney I think ur awesome.

  6. The opportunities of man are limited only by his imagination. But so few have imagination that there are ten thousand fiddlers to one composer.

In other words, a dog has got to eat, show me a faithful dude and I’ll show you a man with limited opportunities, word

    stay lit
