Mady Gosselin Slams “Harmful” Social Media Comments About Her Family; Insists She & Her Siblings Aren’t “Damaged” or “Crazy Child Stars”

“I’m tired of the Jon & Kate Plus 8 plus HATE, guys!”

Mady Gosselin, daughter of Jon and Kate Gosselin, is firing back at those on social media who have speculated that she and/or any of her siblings suffer from childhood trauma after appearing on their family’s reality TV shows.

Over the weekend, the former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star spoke on behalf of herself and her siblings, including her 22-year-old twin sister Cara and their six younger siblings–– 18-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Joel, Leah, Collin and Hannah.

“These internet trolls are literally more annoying than our parents.”

Hannah recorded the video in response to a comment she received on TikTok from someone addressing the “wedge” driven among the Gosselin family and how it had torn the Gosselin children apart. Mady said this would be the only time she’d address this topic, admitting it was “sending [her] over the edge.”

@madygosselin

Replying to @slagathor42 i’ve been getting hate mail since i was 6 but that doesn’t mean you need to keep sending it. learn how to respect people’s boundaries and practice kindness. i bet your life will be so much more enjoyable because of it!

“The rhetoric in so many of my comments about childhood trauma and healing and whatever you want to say about my family, my life, my parents, whatever, is not your business. As is the case with every other person in the entire world, it is not anybody else’s business what they are dealing with behind closed doors if they don’t want it to be your business,” she said.

“Even further than that, perpetuating the narrative that we are damaged or that we are ‘crazy child stars’ or whatever you want to say is extremely harmful as myself and my siblings are going out into the world and will be functioning members of society with careers.

“Oh! Might I suggest a career in television?”

“There seems to be a consensus that if you’re in the public eye, your entire life belongs to the public and that is in no way true,” she continued. “Regardless of whatever narrative you’ve created in your head from what you’ve seen, my siblings are doing so well, they’re all smart, they’re all kind, they’re all driven students, they’re working hard, they’re funny, they’re stylish.”

“You kids can thank me for that great style!”

As The Ashley previously told you, Mady and Cara remained in Kate’s custody before leaving home to attend college. Aaden, Alexis, Joel and Leah also continued to live with Kate, while Hannah and Collin have been in Jon’s custody since 2018. While Mady acknowledged there is bound to be speculation about her and her siblings, the public is “not entitled” to know everything.

“Fine, whatever…”

“As upsetting as it is to hear this, you are not entered to that information about their lives or my life,” she stated. “What I share on social media is my choice and you are not entitled to anything more than that.”

In the caption of her TikTok, Mady claimed that while she has been the recipient of hate mail since the age of 6, it “doesn’t mean you need to keep sending it.”

“Learn how to respect people’s boundaries and practice kindness,” she added. “I bet your life will be so much more enjoyable because of it!”

  1. “Respect their privacy on the Internet” is an oxymoron. Like it or not Mady, you are in the public eye through no fault of your own. The same “fame” that gives you social media followers is the same fame that attracts trolls. Your parents sold your privacy many moons ago. Block the haters if you want, but stop being shocked that not all social media response isn’t fawning and oblivious to the past and present press your entire family receives. We haven’t forgotten Collin even if you have.

  2. Yet she has no complaints about the thousands of followers on SM that were acquired through their time on reality TV. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. If you’re going to put yourself out there, expect the masses to look for the chinks.

  3. Kids are off limits. Even as adults. Not their fault the parents consented to have them on TV. I’ll bet they are suffering and even suffocating enough with the public interest, but people tend to forget these poor children had no choice.

  4. No one is saying your crazy.

    What people are saying is:
    1. Putting children on tv to show their entire childhood before they are able to consent is unethical, unhealthy, and toxic
    2. The reason people care about you is that your parents made a unilateral decision to put you and your siblings on TV. So you can be mad, but you are mad at the wrong people.
    3. Your brother, Colin, is a completely different person and has experience trauma, and damage from your childhood. Stop diminishing his pain because you didn’t go through what he went through.

The anger is directed at the parents who do this to their children, not the children. There is a reason why ALL eight of the kids are choosing to run away from the spotlight now they are old and have autonomy.

It just sucks that her parents made so many bad decisions, and she and her siblings are living with the consequences of it.

  5. People need to save their comments for the parents. Those kids had no choice, no control, and no freedom growing up. Leave them alone. Their parents behavior is not their fault.

  6. Hilaria Baldwin, and all of the other “celebrities” who parade their kids out on social media, the internet, and tv for views and money — I hope they see this. These kids are not possessions, and the damage is not worth the $$ and attention you’re getting.

I don’t believe ANY kid who is treated like this will be thankful.

    1. Your mom should of thought bout her kids before selling family out for money and fame. What u expect to happen. Kids deserve semi normal life and privacy not being paycheck for parents

  7. I feel for her truly. Obviously when her parents chose to be on a reality show chronicling their lives and their children’s lives the kids had no say in that. It is ridiculous to me that people still choose to comment to her about their family. It can’t be easy.
