Former Teen Mom star Jenelle Evans says that she and her mom Barbara Evans are getting along these days. In fact, the relationship between Babs and Jenelle has improved so much that Barb even took to social media this week to do a bit of trolling for her daughter!
Jenelle sat down with Us Weekly earlier this week to give an update on her life, including the status of her relationship with mom. The former Lady of The Land revealed that things are currently “good” with Barb and that the two even “talk from time to time”— a surprising update, given that the two weren’t on speaking terms for most of 2023 and 2024.
Barb and Jenelle have seemingly found a few areas of common ground— one of those apparently being hating on Jenelle’s ex-husband David Eason!
On Thursday, Barbara surfed onto her former son-in-law’s Facebook page to offer her comments on his relationship with his 11-years-younger girlfriend, Kenleigh Heatwole. (As The Ashley has reported, Jenelle is none-too-fond of Kenleigh and the two have sparred on social media numerous times since Kenleigh and David got together last year.)
Using her personal Facebook page, Barbara left a comment on a photo David posted of him and Kenleigh kissing. When one person wrote that they think Kenleigh looks enough like David to be his sister, Babs added her two cents.
“She’s 25. Like kissing his daughter. SICK,” Barb wrote. (The comment has since been deleted, though.)
Despite Barbara hopping on Jenelle’s Troll Train, the fired ‘Teen Mom’ star didn’t have great things to say about her mom during her press tour leading up to her disastrous “Divorce Party” on Thursday.
Jenelle stated that— although they are getting along now— she doesn’t communicate with her mom frequently because Barbara is just too much to handle.
“ … [We talk] but, like, not every day,” Jenelle said, claiming that it’s good for there to be some distance between her and her mother.
“ … I can only handle her in doses, you know what I’m saying?”
Last week, Jenelle told Access Hollywood that her and her mom have been “catching up during the week” and are on “civil terms” right now.
Still, Barbara and Jenelle’s relationship has come a long way in just one year. As The Ashley reported in May 2024, Jenelle was feuding with her mom and even took to social media to demand that people stop asking her about Barb.
“Listen, everyone needs to stop bringing up my mom,” Jenelle wrote at the time. “She has caused so much damage within the past year, I need to heal before she’s ever brought back into my life again.”
Although Jenelle and Babs had been fighting on and off for years, the mother/daughter pair had been enjoying a decent relationship (for them, anyway) up until about June 2023 when they became estranged again. Things between the mother and daughter got even more tense after Jenelle’s son Jace (whom Barb raised for the majority of his life) ran away from Jenelle’s home several times. In August 2023, Barb offered her thoughts on the Jace situation during an interview with TMZ, which set Jenelle off even more.
In September 2023, The Ashley broke the news that Jenelle had attempted to file a restraining order against Barb, claiming that she and her children were in danger of “serious and immediate injury” at the hands of Babs. Jenelle also stated in the court documents that she was unhappy that Barbara had continued to talk to ‘Teen Mom’ producers about her.
In court documents exclusively obtained by The Ashley, Jenelle demanded a judge forbid Barb from speaking to— or about— her or her children; to keep Barb from buying or owning weapons and— most giggle-inducing— to keep Babs from “name-calling” her in their texts, all of which Jenelle claims is causing her “emotional distress.” Her request for the restraining order was eventually denied by a judge.

Poor Barb. She has to walk a fine line…placate Jenelle’s warped tendencies or see her grandkids.
They are ALL fing crazy and by ALL, I mean all. Yes, him too.
Nope, I wasn’t talking about all of her crazy ass ex’s.
If you’re referring to Jace, that’s ignorant as hell. He’s a kid who has been brought up in absolute chaos and has neurodivergent diagnoses. He’s shown indications of severe depression, understably, and to just write him off as crazy when he’s struggling because of all the adults who let him down is just nasty.
Hope he gets some real help, from a decent person who truly has his best interests at heart.
I am absolutely referring to Jace. Do I feel sorry for Jace, a little bit, not as much as when he was younger. Jace is at the age where he knows exactly what to do and how to get his own way and it goes like this, give me my own way or I will either set your house on fire or I will kick holes in all your doors and bust up cabinet doors. He needs to go into foster care or something because of the 6 places he has lived the result was the same.
I mean… this is her pattern.
When she’s got an “ultimate bad guy”, All former “ultimate bad guys” are her friends again, and she’ll utilize them like weapons against the current bad guy. With the exact same script every single time.
She hates her mom anytime she’s dating anyone. She’s single? Her mom and her issues are gone/healing/a work in progress.
Round and Round and Round this merry-go-round we go… 16 years and counting. It’s like trailer park, dysfunctional Groundhog Day! Only in this hell, we have somehow not reached the come-to-Jesus moments of clarity and growth that get us to the next day.

If Jenelle is blameless then so is Barb. Because Barb had a mother who “raised her to be this way” just like Jenelle did. I cannot stand when people say stuff like this. Maybe at 16 Barb was to blame. But I specifically recall Barb BEGGING Jenelle to stay off drugs, leave guys alone, focus on her future and her son, I remember Barb helping Jenelle so much and crying because she was so upset over Jenelle’s life choices. Jenelle is a grown adult woman who is way too old to keep blaming her mom. That ship sailed LONG ago.
Nothing like some mother-daughter bonding by way of toxicity and hate. It always amazes me that people exert so much time & energy into trolling or bashing. Imagine if Jenelle & Barb would’ve put all that effort into creating a stable & living environment for those kids. Jenelle could be a Chelsea by now, but she prefers the opposite. Always a shame.

Jenelle was a complete wreck long before she even knew David Eason existed. Very unstable and abusive, many arrests, strung out on drugs, abandoning her son, etc. I know Barb is probably just willing to do anything for love and attention from Jenelle, but I think acting this way is ridiculous. First of all 11 years does not make him old enough to be her dad so that’s just a weird thing to say. Plus he seems like he has stopped causing trouble and if you hate him then hate him but like why would you keep talking about him? Jenelle is so obsessed with him even after all this.
I think it was one of those things like pouring gasoline on a fire with David and Janelle. The dude went off the f’n deep end. But Jenelle has always been a mess, as you said. Some people are humbled by divorce/downfall. By no means am I trying to justify David’s behavior. But we haven’t heard a peep out of him.
I agree totally! I keep wondering silently to myself, was this the straw that finally broke the camels back? Anyone is allowed to change. Maybe David finally got to a point where he’s tired of going down this road over and over. Maybe he’s ready to grow up and gain stability in life. Sadly, the opposite seems true for Jenelle.
There is one common denominator in all of Jenelle relationships. Thats Jenelle.

She is a master manipulator, who knows exactly what she’s doing by continuing to bring up David. Because the only person that people hate more than Jenelle evans is David Eason. She might’ve even asked Barb to do this after that flop of a divorce party she put on because people adore Barb and she thinks it will get people hating David instead of her again. “ David is the worst” is all she’s got left because she’d rather David be her scapegoat than to grow up and just be a better person.
Posting a comment on his Facebook page?! Sometimes adults need to take a moment to reflect and ask themselves “how will this help the situation?” Your daughter is divorcing him and custody of a minor child is part of the proceedings, how was posting an unnecessary comment going to assist with the divorce? Honestly, the pair of them can’t get out of their own way.
Yes! That’s exactly why I commented what I did. It says a lot when a 60 something year old woman will go out of her way to harass her POS daughter’s ex-boyfriend on his own Facebook. I haven’t seen David say much himself or interact with anyone…. It’s all of these women either fighting his battles for him, or wasting their time arguing over him and what he does.
Memory! Remember when Barb said at a hotel with Jenelle and they were face timing with Brit ( Briana sister) and Barb said Let’s get lit & go k–l Kail! And she stole someone’s umbrella 🌂
