Mama June Shannon is firing back at her former son-in-law Josh Efird for insisting that she played a âbig roleâ in his marriage to her daughter Lauryn âPumpkinâ Shannon coming to an end.
As fans know, Josh and Pumpkin split quietly in August 2024 after six years of marriage and four children together. While their divorce was finalized the following month, Mama June: Family Crisis viewers are watching the pairâs split play out on the current season on the WeTV show.
On Fridayâs episode, Josh spoke about his and Pumpkinâs mounting marital issues, telling viewers that while he takes âfull responsibilityâ for things he did to cause problems in his relationship, he also believes that June played a âbig roleâ in their split due to âthe issues she was causingâ in her personal life.
âIt started with her drug addiction, which made [her daughter] Alana [Thompson] scared to live with her ⊠,â Josh stated on the episode, referring to Pumpkinâs younger sister, who began living with Josh and Pumpkin in 2019, shortly after June was arrested for possession of crack cocaine. (Pumpkin went on to be awarded sole custody of Alana in 2022.)
âAnd then we basically had to flee from her drug dealers wanting her money, our money, whosever money,â he continued. âIt just seems as if no matter what we done, Juneâs chaos managed to follow us everywhere we went.â
In response to the clip, which June reposted to her Instagram page, June told fans that while she still has âso muchâ that she needs to say to Joshâ stuff she claims that has been bothering her âfor years”â she maintains that sheâs not the reason that his marriage to Pumpkin failed.
â ⊠did I go through drug addiction? Most certainly. But even [then], some people need to take responsibility for the actions that they done,â she wrote.
June went on to call out both Josh and Pumpkin for doing things in their marriage that contributed to it coming to an end.
âLike I told you before, Pumpkin or Josh is no saint,â she claimed. âWhen it comes to the cheating, they were one of those type [of] people that would cheat [on] somebody to get their leg back and they would get back together.
âIt was just a very toxic relationship and Iâm glad itâs over with,â June added, along with a series of hashtags including, #VillainInYourStory, #NotMyFault and #TakeSomeResponsibility.â
Over the weekend, June doubled down on her claims about Josh and Pumpkinâs marriage by posting a clip from an upcoming episode of âMama June: Family Crisis,â in which Josh and Pumpkin are seen attending a counseling session together. In the caption of her post, June told fans that while Josh and Pumpkin sought help for their marriage issues, âthere was no resolution.â
âSometimes u have to walk away before u hate them and canât [stand] to be in the same situation [or place] together with or without kids,â she noted.
As The Ashley previously told you, Pumpkin and Josh were quick to move on to new relationships after their split last year, with Pumpkin dating Joshâs cousin Darrin Kitchens and Josh dating a woman named Keely, who at the time, was pregnant with Darrinâs child (allegedly).
After Josh and Keely split, Josh went to begin a relationship with Breanna Godwin, who gave birth to his fifth child, daughter Sadie, in May.

im pretty sure there were other serious things behind closed doors that caused their marriage to fail but any healthy marriage wouldâve still struggled if they had to deal with problems with june and itâs so ignorant of june to say she didnât play a part in it! obviously it depends on the married people to work it out but it would affect anyone negatively if they got ran out of their home over problems they didnât cause
