‘Teen Mom’ News Pile: Kail Lowry Opens Up About Mental Illness Driving Her Need for Plastic Surgery; Catelynn Lowell’s Mom April Insists She’s “Not a Crackhead” & More

“I can’t stop!”

From talking about plastic surgery to talking about (not) being a crackhead, it’s been a busy week for the stars/former stars of the Teen Mom franchise! In an effort to bring you up-to-date on the latest Teen Mom: The Next ChapterTeen Mom OG, Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant and Teen Mom 2 news, The Ashley brings you the Teen Mom News Pile.

Here are some of the major (and minor but interesting) ‘Teen Mom’-related things that happened over the last week or so…

Kail Lowry Opens Up the “Mental Illness” That Causes Her to Keep Getting Plastic Surgery

“I KNOW I need to stay off the plastic surgeon’s operating table!”

Kail recently underwent several cosmetic surgeries on her face and neck, having her chin and glands operated on to reduce the appearance of a “double chin.” Unfortunately, she is still dealing with issues from the surgery, with one of her lips still being paralyzed from the surgery. During the most-recent episode of her Karma & Chaos podcast, Kail told her co-host Becky Hayter that she was feeling suicidal recently over what’s happening with her face, and was wondering if her paralyzed lip was “karma” for her getting so much plastic surgery.

“I get it. I mean, it’s your face,” Becky told her. “You’re seeing yourself on, like, a million different accounts. Every time you pop on your phone you’re seeing yourself at every different angle. So it’s hard. People don’t understand that part of it…I don’t think people understand what it’s like to watch yourself all the time. It’s very jarring and you start picking up on things that you never would have otherwise been insecure about.”

Kail— who has had a plethora of plastic surgeries over the years including two tummy tucks, several breast surgeries, liposuction and more— said that seeing what people say about her online (including one of her baby daddies who reportedly told Kail she “cut off her gobble neck” during her most-recent surgery) really has an effect on her.

“I don’t recommend using surgeries— or baby daddy accumulation— as a way to fix childhood trauma.”

“I can’t help it. You can help that you’re a dickhead; I can’t help that I have a double chin!” she said. “No amount of working out is going to make my extra skin [on my neck] just magically go away.”

Kail then addressed the fact that it’s mental illness driving her desire to continue to get surgeries.

“I don’t want my daughter or other people to feel like they have to get surgery to feel good but, like, I don’t know how to get out of it and therapy can only help so much,” Kail said. “What is the solution? Just to not look online at myself? Like, I don’t know what the solution is.”

Kail’s co-host Becky suggested that Kail try changing how she speaks about herself.

“It’s rough!” Kail said. “It’s so easy for people to look online [at me] and be like, ‘Stop getting surgery!'”

Kail then stated that online haters often say that Kail “knows that it’s a mental illness. She keeps talking about mental illness but then she does [the surgeries] anyway.'”

And I’m like, ‘Because it’s a f**king mental illness!’ Like, I’m aware and I do it anyway,” she said.

Becky encouraged their listeners to be more kind to Kail regarding the issue, and for Kail to be kinder to herself regarding her looks and for actively trying to work on the issue in therapy.

“Instead of dogpiling on someone who, obviously their insecurities are running the show at that moment, how is that helpful?” she said. “…yes, that is a mental health issue and that’s not going to get fixed overnight. And you’re working on it.”

This not the first time Kail has addressed her obsession with getting plastic surgery. Back in January, the former ‘Teen Mom 2’ star tearfully warned fans to “think twice” before going under the knife, admitting that she feels she has gone past the point of what she considers normal in her quest to be “skinny.”

“I just pray that my kids never struggle with their body images enough to mutilate their bodies to be skinny,” Kail said as she put on her makeup. “I think a little nip and tuck in terms of a nose job or a boob job is OK. But to go through this to be skinny is mental illness, truly. And I say that with the most respect to anyone going through it.”

One of Kail’s most-recent TikTok video, however, is her getting Dysport (a Botox-like anti-wrinkle injectable treatment) to try to balance out her paralyzed lip. When fans commented on the TikTok that Kail needs to “embrace her natural beauty,” she replied in the comment section, “I don’t want to embrace any wrinkles lol.”

Catelynn Lowell’s Mom April Reveals If She Was a Crackhead; Talks About How “Ruthless” MTV Was

“I was a juicehead, not a crackhead! Get it right!”

April is clearing up what she says is the biggest misconception that ‘Teen Mom’ fans about her. In a video posted to social media by Catelynn’s brother Nick, April answers some frequently asked questions she gets from viewers of the show. When asked by a fan what the biggest misconception fans have about her, April replied that people often think she was/is a crackhead.

April clarified that she is not, and never was, a crackhead.

“Let’s get real,” April said. “I drink alcohol. I’m so sick of being called a crackhead! And a drug addict!”

The vibes this is giving…

After the crackhead question had been covered, April went on to answer a few more questions, including how she felt about giving up some of her privacy to be on reality TV.

“I didn’t want to do [the show] either,” April said. “I did it for my kid.”

She was also asked how “ruthless” MTV was while trying to get drama and dirt for the show.

“They tried to be ruthless but I was better at it!” April said proudly.

Oh we know girl…we all saw that prom dress shopping scene!

“I had control,” April continued. “They tried to [be ruthless] but it wasn’t happening.”

In another Q&A post from this week, April answered more questions, revealing if the rumor that Catelynn had planned to name her first daughter, Carly, after April was true. (We can assume this was when Catelynn was considering parenting Carly, before she and Tyler decided to place Carly for adoption and let her adoptive parents name her.)

April said that she did think Carly was going to be her namesake.

“I thought it was [true],” April said of having Carly named after her. “But I don’t think it was [true] now.”

She also gave advice to other people who are dealing with their teen getting pregnant.

“It was a difficult thing for me to deal with,” April admitted. “I would say be understanding and listen. Ask a lot of questions. Regardless of the situation, it’s going to happen.”

‘Young & Pregnant’ Star Lexi Tatman Opens Up About Her Struggle with Infertility

Lexi Tatman and husband Kyler Lopez…

Lexi Tatman of ‘Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant’ took to social media this week to share with fans that she recently had a miscarriage and that she and husband Kyler Lopez have been struggling to conceive for more than a year, despite previously experiencing “two healthy pregnancies.”

“I never thought I’d be writing this,” Lexi began her post. “After two healthy pregnancies, I never imagined I’d join the 1 in 8 couples who struggle with infertility.”

Fans of ‘Young & Pregnant’ may remember Lexi from the first season of the show, which she appeared on with her baby-daddy-turned-husband Kyler. Lexi and Kyler welcomed their first son, Tobias, on the MTV series and after leaving the show, they went on to have a second son named Jay in 2019. Three years later, Lexi and Kyler tied the knot

Lexi– who was ultimately replaced by Kiaya Elliott on ‘Young & Pregnant’– went on to write that the journey to growing her family has been “long and painful,” noting that she had a miscarriage more than a year ago, only to experience two more a year later.

“Three losses total,” Lexi wrote. “In that time, I’ve worked so hard on everything I can control. I’ve changed my diet, started tracking my cycles, gotten my hormones tested and tried to give my body every possible chance to heal. And yet, we’ve been hit with heartbreak all over again.”

Lexi described “secondary infertility” as “isolating, confusing” and “deeply painful,” but said she decided to share her experience publicly to let others know they aren’t struggling alone.

“If you’re going through this too, I see you,” she wrote. “You are not alone. You are not broken. And you’re allowed to hold both grief and hope at the same time.

“Here’s to believing that one day we will hold our rainbow baby,” Lexi added.

Farrah Abraham Says Public Schools are “Abusive” & “Toxic”

“Those places are packed with problems, PER LAW!”

Farrah Abraham tossed up a hefty serving of her infamous Farrah Word Salad this week while recalling the allegedly “abusive” and “toxic” environment she witnessed when sending her now-teenage daughter to public school.

As fans know, Farrah has homeschooled 16-year-old Sophia for years, though at one point, she had her daughter enrolled in traditional public school. According to the fired ‘Teen Mom’ star, she decided to pull her daughter from public school all together after learning that certain parents at the school were discussing Farrah’s sex tape/sex life with their young children.

“They heard about my sex life in kindergarten and parents used to be seriously disgusting … they would talk about my sex life to their 5-year-old son,” Farrah revealed in an interview with Hot 97’s Midday MVMT with DJ Drewski. “My daughter brought that up one day in kindergarten, so from a very young age, I knew how abusive and toxic public school was.”

Farrah went on to claim that some of the dads of Sophia’s classmates would even come into her businesses at the time with the intention of cheating on their wives with the Backdoor Teen Mom.

“The dads on the low [down] came into my businesses sometimes when I was there and they said some really shady stuff about their ‘mixed families’ and trying to cheat on the women out there in the suburbs,” Farrah said. “So I actually realized, like, suburbs is just too wounded and toxic for me.”

“Control yourselves, PTA dads.”

In an effort to prove just how “wounded and toxic” living in the ‘burbs can be, Farrah claimed that some women in these areas were being mistreated and in some cases, even killed, by their own husbands.

“ … it was sad, some of my mom friends were drugged by their husbands, some were killed, some were abused around Christmas,” she said, without any context at all as to why these alleged events happened around the holiday season. “And again, they all had kids that were my daughter’s age. So it was just very inappropriate.

“Believe me, holidays in the suburbs are HO-HO-HOrrifying!”

“ … and when I hear ‘suburbs’ and ‘10 out of 10 schools,’ I run the opposite direction now, straight up,” she added.

  1. No Baby F, willingly taking E while on a Dubai trick is not “being drugged by their husbands” lol. She watches too much lifetime. And i bet Sophia just made shit up to get out of school, she is conniving and let’s not forget she killed a dog…

  2. Plastic surgery won’t fix her ugliness, but therapy might.

Okay, maybe not, but there’s a slight possibility, under a blue moon on the 2nd Tuesday of the week.

  3. Kail, Kail, GURL. YES, YOU DO GO TO THERAPY INSTEAD OF UNDERNEATH THE KNIFE!!! Sure, I couldn’t afford surgery but I wouldn’t go even if I could. (There was only one thing I really hated about myself as a teen but I came to embrace it) This is a self-esteem issue. Get a bloody GOOD therapist and work this out with them. What if…one day a surgery goes south and your poor kids stay without their mom? Is this why you think you will be dead in 20 years? That’s a terrible thought for the kids…

  4. Honestly, I feel for Kail. The interwebs have been harsh towards her appearance. I think it’s gross to comment on another woman’s body. We’ve said for years that men make gross comments about women’s weight or body type, which is true. Those men are just crappy for making those judgments and statements. But, women do it too. I’ve seen women on this site calling Kail animal names and ripping apart her appearance. I wish we would just stop. Can we please show some grace to each other? You don’t like Kail’s personality? You don’t like the way she spends money or changes relationships or parents or makes money or talks about her co-parents? Cool. But please let’s just stop being unkind about appearance. Every one of us has something in our appearance we wish was different—taller, shorter, thinner, curvier, different nose, fuller lips, whatever. I know it would destroy my self-confidence to have my appearance and my insecurities attacked by people who don’t even know me. Yep, I care a little too much what others think of me.

Ok, my rant is over🤣. But seriously, can we please be kinder and show grace to each other?

    Thanks

    1. But here’s the thing. I was bullied as a kid. (That was before the internet, I can’t imagine how it would be if I read about it at home too) I got a bloody good therapist who I still to this day work this out with her…for Kail it’s also a self-esteem issue. No amount of surgery will make her embrace who she is and THAT is what is alarming. And being on the public eye unfortunately does bring your attention to all kinds of people. I’m sure there is not a person in the public eye who doesn’t get criticism about the most frivolous thing.

I do agree however with you that commenting on someone’s appearance is bad cuz they can’t help it.

    2. I 100 percent agree with you. People cannot choose how they look at birth.. Yes, you can do things if you don’t like it, but they shouldn’t be drug through the mud for either. Like you said, don’t agree with their decisions, fine, but being cruel is not. I know Farrah has done a lot obviously. She probably doesn’t realize it looks over the top . She is a prime example of body dysmorphic disorder. My mom has it . She’s 5’4 and got down to 82 pounds. She thought she looked great. I feel really bad for people who go through that.

    3. Agreed, 100%.
From my perspective, I have always had a soft spot for Kail. Can’t explain it. But I will tell those people that want to make a zinger about her face and neck that writing those words doesn’t just hurt Kail, it makes other people (like me) feel some kinda way. I also have a similar neck structure as does a lot of my family. I was a competitive swimmer, played tons of sports, ran road races…and have ALWAYS had a neck that makes me look heavier than I am. Can’t help it and I try to have peace with it.
And the people that write about her make me question my own reflection too.
You want to make fun of things on people that they made a choice to have? Go ahead I guess. Or just…be kinder. Because someone could probably pick out something ugly about you too!

    1. If looking at other people makes you feel “better” about yourself”. That’s actually really sad. I know it’s just a thing people say. The truth is usually said in jest.

  5. Kail could keep a cardboard cutout of Farrah as inspiration to not get any more surgeries. It will be a matter of time before they twin.

  6. “What is the solution? Just to not look online at myself?

Is that really so weird, so utterly out of the question? Am I the only one who goes on the Internet with literally zero interest in what it might be saying about me? She talks about not looking at herself online the way other people might talk about giving up on chewing, or never using the letter ‘e’.

    1. I also wonder if Kail is aware that there are many career options that don’t involve having your face all over the internet.

  7. Kail is definitely getting to the point where she’s starting to look weird, to me anyways. I really hope she stops before she goes Farrah.

    1. Kail has already gone full Farrah. The only difference is that Farrah was already an attractive young woman before turning herself into some kind of freak. Kail did not have the advantage of a great deal of natural beauty and is desperately trying to make herself look like what is labeled as attractive these days. And the bottom line is that she lacked the ambition to do the hard work of living a health lifestyle.

      1. You know, no, Kail was no beauty BUT she also wasn’t some beast…like most of us, she fell somewhere in between “Greek goddess” and “gargoyle.” She was almost cute at times if you could look past her facial expressions and well, her personality. But I totally agree, she won’t “shape up” by eating wisely and exercising.

  8. In April’s case, crackhead is just a blanket statement for someone who looks hellishly strung-out and clearly has some major substance abuse issues. Not necessarily on crack per se. Crackhead is actually a great description for her even if crack isn’t her preferred vice.

I always thought April looked meth-ey. Although one meth head I knew was a raging alcoholic then lost his taste for booze when he discovered his true love meth, which put him in an early grave. April was drunk at one of those TM mother / daughter trips so alcohol is for sure one of her vices. Another poster recently said she’s probably always so cranky because she’s frequently hung over and that tracks.

  9. april, april, april ~ if you have to say you’re not a crackhead…you’re most likely a crackhead. 🤷🏼‍♀️
(also, google tells me april is 5️⃣3️⃣?!? that is a ROUGH 53. stay off drugs, kids.)

  10. April looks like pills and booze. Lots of pills and booze.

Kail, stfu. Just go completely away. And all the surgeries look horrible.
