After a tough few years for herself and her family, former Alaskan Bush People star Rain Brown returned to social media last week to share some happy news with followers. In a nearly 14-minute TikTok, the 23-year-old announced, “I am currently six-and-a-half months pregnant, six months sober and nine months clean.”
@theoneandonlyrainbrown hey everybody just wanted to introduce you to my new channel and give yall a life update, it’s no secret ive been struggling in the past few years but im here to tell you that recovery IS possible, for with God all things are possible. if you are struggling and you dont know where to turn, turn to the Father and he will make your paths straight, I hope yall enjoy the video, please remember to be kind, and remember, God and Jesus love you very much. God bless yall. #staystrong #stayhappy #Godisgood #soberliving #momanddaughter
In the video, Rain talked about her sobriety and the multiple challenges and tragedies she’s deal with, including the death of her father Billy in 2021 and her oldest brother Matt’s death last month. She credits her brother’s passing and her pregnancy with pushing her to get sober.
“[M]y daughter has a lot to do with the fact that I got clean and sober, but also the passing of my brother Matthew, RIP bro-ski, the passing of my brother Matthew really kind of like woke me up to what I was doing and the road that I was on, because I was on the same road that he was,” she said. “He struggled with mental health and addiction for a long time, and that’s something that I’ve struggled with for a long time, and, uh, you know, I have also struggled with, you know, thoughts that I would be better off gone.
“I really wanted this video to be more about, less about me and more about awareness for other people, uh, that are going through the same things that I struggled with and the things that my brother struggled with,” Rain continued, choking up as she spoke. “It’s very hard for me to talk about him, um, sorry, it’s very hard for me to talk about him so I won’t be focusing on that a lot in this video, um, but I will say that he’s in a better place and he’s not hurting anymore, you know, I believe in God, I believe in Jesus, the Holy Ghost, and I believe in heaven, and I know he’s up there with my dad and Cuppy [the family’s dog] and, you know, all of our family that has passed and, uh, I know that he’s a lot happier now, so I find peace in that.”
In the video, Rain admitted to using for nearly five years.
“I got clean and sober, and it was quite difficult for me to even admit that I wasn’t clean and sober,” she shared. “Um, obviously, people could tell something was up, um, I had been drinking every day, uh, since my dad died, and I, you know, had been using, um, pretty much every day since he passed, and it just really was a lot of grief, um, that I just didn’t know what to do with, um, a lot of, you know, bad influence by a lot of the people that I was hanging around, places that I was, um, and, honestly, just trying to ‘live my life,’ but kind of doing it the wrong way.”
Her estranged baby daddy, Josiah Lorton, was one of those bad influences. Last year, the pair was accused of stealing $170,000 in cash, guns, wine and gold from Josiah’s uncle. While facing those charges, Rain’s brother Noah and former sister-in-law Rhain also unsuccessfully sought a restraining order against her. Noah additionally accused Rain and Josiah of providing drugs to their mother Ami, which necessitated a welfare check.
At the time, Rain ranted against her brother and his accusations on TikTok, saying, “I’m absolutely f**king sick, and absolutely f**king tired of people acting like my husband and I are a bunch of meth addicts, that we are thieves and f**king running around lying and all this and that, because of s**t that my brother Noah happens to say. He’s a terrible f**king person and he lies about us for God knows what f**king reason.
“I’m so f**king sick and tired of everyone judging me and making accusations against me and acting like I’m some kind of f**king bad person, or my husband is a bad person,” she continued. “We’re not bad people!”
The siblings have since reconciled, appearing together in a video on Noah’s TikTok channel.
“ … at the end of the day, he’s still my brother,” Rain said to which Noah added, “Water under the bridge, right?”
“Water under the bridge,” Rain confirmed.
In that video, she also shared that she’d asked Noah to be in the delivery room when her daughter is born.
“Yes, so I invited Noah to the hospital when the baby’s born so he can hold the baby and get to be in the baby’s life and get to see the little baby,” Rain said. “You can even babysit sometimes if you want to.”
Despite announcing in January 2025 that she and Josiah had wed, Rain shared in last week’s TikTok that the now-former couple had not actually been married.
“I won’t be talking about, um, Josiah in this video,” she said. “We have separated, um, we were never legally married so it makes things a little easier, but we have decided to be friends and co-parent, um, similar to by brother Bear and my sister Raiven, we actually draw a lot of inspiration off of them, shout out to them.”
Bear and Raiven share three children and announced their separation last spring.
Rain declined to provide many details about how Josiah is doing.
“[W]e just decided that it would be best, um, to just take some time, you know, obviously I don’t know what will happen in the future, uh, I still have a lot of love for Josiah, um, but I just don’t really thing we’re super-compatible as a couple as of now,” she said. “Um, I won’t talk about what he’s doing or where he is, that’s his business to talk about if he chooses to, um, I can only talk about what I’m doing, where I am and where I’ve been, so with that I hope that you guys will be kind to him still and recognize that we were people too because there was quite a lot of cyberbullying going on, um, when I decided to take a break from social media.”
Rain did want to talk quite a bit about her baby and the work she’s been doing on herself since finding out she was pregnant.

“[M]y daughter, I’m having a girl, I know you guys have seen it on everybody else’s social media, but, uh, I haven’t really gotten a chance to talk about it, I’m having a girl and her name is Amithyst Grace, after my mom Ami,” she said. “She is absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me, she saved me, uh, quite literally saved me, saved my life, and, um, [shows ultrasounds], so that’s her, my little angel face, look at her little face.
“Anyway, she’s precious, she’s my everything, and I really decided to get clean and sober for her because the type of person that I was ever since my daddy passed was not a very good person,” Rain continued. “I really lost myself and I didn’t even want to be in reality, I had two major mental breakdowns, uh, in the last five years and I have had multiple stays at psychiatric hospitals and, um, I’ve even been to jail, nothing that I did on that one, um, can’t really talk about it, but, uh, someday I will.”
Rain also credited her family for their support.
“I’m just trying to focus on my daughter and giving her the best possible life she can have,” she said. “I want her to be happy, healthy, and have a clean and sober mom, and that is the most important thing to me is that she still has her parents and her whole family, and my family has been more than supportive of my sobriety journey, you know, I mean, they all have gone above and beyond, and I just love them a lot so I wanted to give them a shout out.”
Though she turned comments for the video off, Rain shared she has received positive feedback and encouragement for followers, and posted to TikTok over the weekend to show her appreciation.
@theoneandonlyrainbrown just wanted to give a thank you to all of yall that supports me and my journey, your kind words have touched my heart deeply. always remember, God is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, and always, the same God who parted the sea watches over you, and will protect you. trust in him and he will make your paths straight. have a blessed Saturday yall, remember, God and Jesus love you! God bless. #momanddaughter #soberliving #Godisgood #staystrong #stayhappy
“I was just wanting to come on here and give a huge thank you to everybody for all of your sweet messages,” she said. “I do read them and I haven’t had time to respond to anybody yet, but when I get time I definitely will, but I just kind of wanted to make a video saying thank you to everybody. Everyone is saying how proud of me they are and that really means a lot because to me, you guys are like my family, I mean, you did watch me grow up and you’ve been with me through a lot of ups and a lot of downs and a lot of in betweens, so it means a lot to me.”
Rain was 12 when ‘Alaskan Bush People’ debuted.
