The stars of ‘Teen Mom’ love to get hitched, with some of them walking down the aisle multiple times over the years. While some of those marriages have become (surprisingly) long-lasting unions, others crashed and burned harder than Butch Baltierra after an all-you-can-snort cocaine buffet! 

From youthful mistakes to drug-induced nuptials, The Ashley takes a look back at some of the shortest marriages in ‘Teen Mom’ history. 

(Just to note: The Ashley is counting from the date of the marriage to the day someone filed for separation or divorce. She is not counting any time the couple was together before getting hitched.)

Leah Messer & Jeremy Calvert: 36 months 

(Married: April 2012; Separated April 2015)

Leah’s second attempt at holy matrimony was only slightly better than her first (but more on that later). However, Leah originally felt so confident that her marriage to Jeremy would last, that she did what any respectable ‘Teen Mom’ star did in 2013— she went out and got a giant tattooed tribute to her new hubby.

Leah’s tattoo featured a terrifying assortment of birds, along with the phrase, “Sometimes you’ve gotta fall before you fly…J.L.C.,” contained Jeremy’s initials, as well as a nod to her first trainwreck marriage.

Sadly, after numerous fights about Leah’s spending, drug use and Leah allegedly getting caught on Jerm’s deer cam messing with her old boyfriend, Robbie Kidd, the couple split. Jeremy filed for separation in April 2015. The marriage— which resulted in one daughter, Addie– officially ended in divorce in June 2015.

 

Ashley Jones & Bar Smith: 23 months

(Married April 2021; Separated March 2023)

Ashley and Bar had a long (and often stormy) relationship before they ever got hitched. The couple— who share daughter Holly— got into nasty fights, long before saying, “I do.” However, Ashley and Bar finally “made it official” in April 2021 but the couple’s marriage was pretty much doomed from the start.

In September 2022, Bar’s mom Shen Williams spilled details of the couple’s drunken shenanigans, claiming Ashley drank and partied with Bar, despite knowing he was an alcoholic.

Ashley filed for separation from Bar in March 2023, but went on to experience a terrifying domestic violence incident at his hand afterward. In July 2024, Bar flew to Las Vegas and showed up unexpectedly at Ashley’s apartment, only to basically hold her hostage and threaten her. He was arrested and charged with four felonies– including kidnapping and residential burglary. Bar went on to spend eight months in jail for the incident. 

While Bar was in the clink, Ashley officially filed for divorce. It was granted in April 2025. 

 

Madisen Beith & Christian Wilson: about 21 months

Married July 2024; Separated April 2026

The marriage of Madison and Christian (who first appeared on “16 and Pregnant” before landing a spot on ‘Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant’) didn’t even make it two years. However, it’s no surprise, given how unhappy the couple seemed on the show…and the fact that Madisen had to propose to Christian to get him to marry her!

The couple had a very rocky relationship that was peppered with breakups. Still, they eventually got hitched in a simple ceremony in Arkansas in July 2024. Christian had seemed reluctant to get married, but finally agreed after Madisen proposed to him.

Fans gave Madisen a hard time for being the one who had to propose, but her stepmom stuck up for her on social media, writing, “If a woman knows what she wants and decides to go for it, whether it’s a career, or a future husband or anything in between – good for her!”

Sadly, the couple— who share daughter Camille— split, with Madisen announcing the breakup on social media in April. 

In a video posted to TikTok, Madisen wrote, “Me announcing my divorce on a random Thursday … Meanwhile my friends who knew the marriage was over before it began.”

In the caption of her post, Madisen provided more context as to why she and Christian have split. 

“And yes… the same man I PROPOSED TO threatened to leave me if I went back to school. (Mind you, the only reason I stopped in the first place was getting pregnant at 15,” she wrote. “If you come from a toxic background and someone instantly feels like ‘home’…please RUN.” 

 

Leah Messer & Corey Simms:  8 months

(Married October 2010; Divorced June 2011)

Leah’s short-lived marriage to Jeremy was not her first attempt at holy matrimony. Just two years before she married Jerm, Leah said “I do” to Corey, the father of her twin daughters. While the wedding was relatively classy (especially by early 2010s ‘Teen Mom’ standards), the marriage was a disaster from the start.

Fights over money and where to “bath” their twins put a damper on things, but it was Leah’s inability to keep her nether regions away from her ex-boyfriend Robbie Kidd that ultimately put the final nail in the coffin.

Corey and Leah’s union only lasted about eight months, start to finish. However, Corey went on to have better luck in his second marriage. He has been married to his wife Miranda since 2013.

 

Jenelle Evans & Courtland Rogers: 4 months

Married December 2012; Separated April 2013

The award for the shortest marriage in ‘Teen Mom’ history goes to Jenelle and her first husband, Courtland. The couple was married for just four short, drug-filled months back in 2014.

Despite Jenelle’s long (long) line of loser boooooooyfriends, Courtland holds the distinction of being the only mooching soulmate to ever get Jenelle down the aisle (other than David Eason, of course). 

Jenelle and Courtland’s love story truly reads like a Disney fairytale. Apparently, Courty had his eye on Jenelle (and her wallet) for a while. When he found out she was between soulmates and finally single, he left the rehab he was in, grabbed some heroin and headed back to Junkieville just to woo Jenelle. Soon, the lovers were caught with drugs and obtained matching mugshots.

The next logical step for Courtland and Jenelle was to get married. They went down to the courthouse and said “I do.” (They were actually already at the courthouse to attend Courtland’s court case for a felony, so the decided to get married. No, seriously, this is actually what happened on their wedding day! You couldn’t even make this up!)

The couple celebrated their nuptials with a romantic dinner at The Olive Garden.

Their drug-fueled marriage went belly-up…but not before Jenelle found out she was pregnant (once again) with Courtland’s baby. Jenelle chose to get an abortion and, at the time, Courtland was in jail and didn’t even about the baby.

Tale as old as time…

Jenelle filed for divorce, which was granted in June 2014.
