Women desperate for fame? Check. Stupid, drama-filled fights? Check. A ton of ugly crying? Check. It’s official: The Mother/Daughter Experiment, which premiered earlier this week on Lifetime has all the makings to be one of the most ridiculously bad reality shows ever!
‘The Mother/ Daughter Experiment’ is a “therapy” show for famous mothers and daughters who have publicly gone through tumultuous times. (Think Couples Therapy only lower budget…if that’s even possible.)
The premiere episode starts out by introducing us to the cast. First we meet Kim Richards and her daughter Kimberly Jackson. Kim is famous for being on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills…and for getting into all sorts of hi-jinks while being all juiced up on the sauce. Kimberly says she feels like the mother in the relationship because she has to deal with Kim’s sobriety and other issues.
Next, we meet Natalie and Karen Nunn. Natalie, who was on Bad Girls Club, says one second she is fighting with her mom and the next they’re best friends.
Heidi Montag Pratt from The Hills and her mom, Darlene Egelhoff are next. Heidi says her issues with Darlene issues started when she had 10 plastic surgery procedures done in one day and Darlene reacted badly on camera.
“I didn’t talk to her for about a year and a half,” Heidi says. (Does anyone notice that Heidi’s speaking voice has gotten way deeper? Why does she all of a sudden sound like Claire Danes?!)
Before the show even gets started, there is already beef in the house. Apparently, Natalie and Heidi already don’t like each other from past issues. Natalie says it’s going to be “World War III.” As soon as Heidi comes in the door, an argument erupts between her, Natalie and Natalie’s mom.
Also…Heidi is totally drunk. She is a blubbering mess. Don’t worry girl, you’ll fit right in here!
Shar Jackson and her daughter, Cassie come in next, followed by Jessica Conseco and her daughter Josie. They’re the ones no one really knows so let’s move right along…
Finally, Courtney Stodden arrives. Courtney is famous for marrying her 50-year-old husband Doug Hutchison when she was only 16. Her mom is here to explain to us all why the hell she let that happen. Also, Courtney says her mom fell in love with her husband. Wow. Woah. Okay. Courtney hasn’t spoken to her mother in six months.
After filling everyone with drinks, Dr. Debbie comes out to tell the mother/daughter pairs that she is here to help them repair their relationships with each other.
In the middle of dinner, Heidi dashes from the table and pukes on the floor. (Kim’s got the look on her face like, “Been there, girl!”)
So why did all of these mothers and daughters decide to go to therapy on national television instead of, you know, in private? Well, according to Shar Jackson, “There’s nothing more therapeutic than doing it in front of the whole world with a whole bunch of strangers.”
Obviously. However, this is a woman who was once in love with Kevin Federline so let’s take whatever she says with a grain of salt.
They start therapy by making the moms and daughters watch a video of them talking trash about each other. Kim gets upset because her daughter talks about what a booze-hound she is. Heidi and her mom hash out the whole Franken-surgery issue.
“I honestly feel like you ripped my heart out of my soul,” Heidi says.
Shar reveals that she isn’t fond of her daughter’s boyfriend. Cassie says that the break up between Shar and Kevin Federline deeply changed Shar. Of course it did. You can’t get dumped by that guy and not feel like crap about yourself.
Courtney’s mother finally shows up, just in time to watch the video her daughter made for her.
In her video, Courtney reveals what makes her mom so awful.
“She began, behind my back, trying to steal my husband away from me,” Courtney says.
All of the other moms and daughters are shocked!
“She took his hand and said, ‘I don’t know what to do but I’m in love with you.’”
But wait— there’s more! Courtney’s mom tries to defend her actions.
“It wasn’t like Courtney was madly in love with him at that time. When Doug was coming to me and Courtney didn’t want him. We became pretty close,” Krista says.
While this is all going on, Shar is delivering some EPIC “Say whaaaaat?” faces. She may surprise everyone and become the best part of this trash heap of a show.
On the preview for next, we get to see more husband-stealing moms and a mother/daughter fight. Stay tuned!

I haven’t watched this show, but I did watch Couples Therapy with Courtney & Doug. It seemed pretty clear to me that her *mother* had been using Courtney for awhile to attract famous/rich men. It was also very obvious Courtney just plays the part of what she thinks men want (the sexed up doll) & her mother would have jumped on the opportunity to have someone like Doug. For what it’s worth, Doug seemed to have lost everything by being in that *relationship*
Natalie & Heidi have beef from their time on Marriage Boot Camp. Natalie made comments about Heidi’s plastic surgeries (or something) in her interviews for the show (confessionals or whatever). They were pretty good friends, but when Heidi saw the comments Natalie made on the show she texted Natalie and told her their friendship was over.
Heidi’s ugly cry is the best contender I have seen to go against Farrah.
josie seems like a spoiled little shit. heidi is the epitome of spoiled lil’ shit. what she’s so mad about is asking her mom if she thought she looked good right after her surgeries and her mom truthfully said no. that’s it, just no. it seems like people all of a sudden not only want their parents to accept whatever it is they’re choosing, but to celebrate and be proud of it. i want to join islam, i want to be a woman and use the pronoun ‘she’ etc etc. um, sorry, mom’s are human too. and you’re not going along with THEIR beliefs so why so insulted when they don’t agree with your choice? you didn’t like theirs! and heidi looks just like her mom so i imagine it’s a little insulting she wanted to completely alter her looks. natalie looks great. hope she continues improving her attitude too. kim richards acts like she’s better than everyone lmao. didn’t she just get wasted and thrown out somewhere, then caught shoplifting? you’re not better than anyone sweetheart, get over yourself.
I think Heidi was saying she felt like her mom said that because MTV (or The Hills production company…whoever wrote the checks) paid her to be mean to Heidi, which made her feel betrayed. But I agree, she is a spoiled brat. She is a train wreck, but thinks she is better than everyone else
