MTV Gives Failed ‘Made in Staten Island’ Show the Repackage Treatment with “New” ‘Families of the Mafia’ Docuseries

The real crime? Trying to pass this off as a new show.

MTV has announced Families of the Mafia, a six-part series premiering April 9, featuring some familiar faces…

Familiar as in previously seen in the network’s failed series Made in Staten Island, according to SiLive.com, which debuted in January of last year and only lasted three episodes before ultimately being pulled due to poor ratings.

MTV describes the new(ish) “raw docuseries” as a show chronicling “the gripping realities of four mafia-tied families on Staten Island as they navigate a divide between parents attempting to guide their children to a better life, and their offspring who want to write their own stories.”

“With one lifestyle and two generations, tensions run high as they decide whether to embrace their families’ legacy or break generational curses,” the show scenario reads.

‘Families of the Mafia’ features former Mob Wives star Karen Gravano–daughter of infamous Sammy “The Bull” Gravano–as she tries to keep her own daughter Karina Seabrook “away from the life.” The show also features the O’Toole family, the LaRoccas and the Augustines.

Of course, this isn’t MTV’s first attempt at repackaging a failed show. As The Ashley previously told you, after Pretty Little Mamas crashed and burned in the ratings, the network rebranded and repackaged the series to Teen Mom: Young Moms Club last year; however, the efforts ultimately didn’t pay off as the “reboot” ended its debut season with abysmal ratings

‘Families of the Mafia’ premieres Thursday, April 9 at, following Jersey Shore Family Vacation. Check out the preview below!

  1. Omg not Karen gravano again, trying to make her kid famous. Maybe she thinks including her infamous father will make a difference this go around.

  2. Karen and her daughter AGAIN?…They seriously need to give it up. Their VH1 mob wives days are OVER. Karen didn’t carry Mob Wives, I don’t know what makes her think she can carry and entirely new show. If it were Drita or even Renee, I could see it lasting more than 2 episodes. Nobody is going to watch this show.

  3. MTV is really lacking new show ideas. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Ridiculousness on 22/7. With 3 different teen mom shows, and now just rebooting old flops.

    1. Maybe MTV should start playing Music Videos again because the new shows that they really try to make us love dont work. And the shows that work are actually beginning to flop. Their story lines and concepts are done.
But then again why would someone watch MTV for music videos when they could watch music videos on YouTube without commercials. I think MTV screwed themselves over by not airing a mixture of shows and music videos. They need to develop some new original outstanding programs soon or their ratings are going to go down faster than Jenelle went back to David.

  4. I knew I’ve seen these people before…. thank you I couldn’t remember the name of the show but it will be another failure just like the young moms club Or whatever they redid…..

  5. I loved Made in Staten Island!!!! The best part of the TMOG premiere was seeing this commercial!!! I’m so happy it’s coming back on. I’d rather watch this over those entitled bitches on teen mom any day.. especially after the whole premiere revolved around Amber and her woe is me attitude… it’s seriously sickening at this point!!! Glad there’s some new shows coming on especially since we’re all stuck inside now!
