From cutting out glands to cutting out grandparents , it’s been a busy week for the stars/former stars of the Teen Mom franchise! In an effort to bring you up-to-date on the latest Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 news, The Ashley brings you the Teen Mom News Pile.
Here are some of the major (and minor but interesting) ‘Teen Mom’-related things that happened over the last week or so…
Farrah Abraham Says Daughter Sophia Still Doesn’t Want Her to Speak to Her Parents: “Don’t Visit the Circus”
Farrah Abraham claims her 16-year-old daughter Sophia still isn’t open to reconciling with grandparents Michael Abraham and Debra Danielsen, nor does the teen support Farrah making nice with her own mom and dad.
During a recent interview with Us Weekly, Farrah spoke about her upcoming episode of A&E’s docuseries Secrets of a Celebrity Sex Tape, where the fired ‘Teen Mom’ star will discuss her 2013 sex tape, Backdoor Teen Mom. Farrah’s dad Michael appears in several preview clips of the episode that have been released, despite him being estranged from Farrah (and Sophia) for a few years.
Farrah said Sophia had some strong feelings after watching the episode and seeing Farrah’s dad Michael making an appearance in the project.
“My daughter really had a word with me the other night,” Farrah told the outlet. “She just said, ‘No matter what, like, with this episode coming out, like, do not go back to talking to [your parents].’”
Farrah insisted that Sophia’s feelings come from the fact that the teen was raised to not tolerate “toxic stuff on her shoulders,” adding that Sophia “just doesn’t believe in it.”
“[She said], ‘Don’t go there, you know, don’t visit the circus,’” Farrah claimed. “So my daughter is so wise.”
While Farrah confirmed that she has shown her episode of the docuseries to Sophia, she said Sophia has no memory of the period of time that Farrah’s sex tape being released. (Sophia was around the age of 4 at the time; however, she was photographed outside the Vivid Video studios with Farrah and Michael around the time the tape came out.)
“ … my best friend, my daughter, she doesn’t even remember being there for any Vivid conversations when I was trying to, like, unconvolute my brain and balance motherhood and all that,” Farrah said in her signature “Farrah Speak” way.
As The Ashley previously told you, while appearing on a June episode of Kail Lowry’s Barely Famous podcast along with her mom, Sophia– whose father, Derek Underwood, died in a car wreck before she was born– spoke about the different dynamics within her family. She revealed that she is still in contact with some of her late father’s family, but has chosen to not communicate with Michael or Debra at all.
“And I’m fine with that,” Sophia stated.
As you may remember, Farrah revealed that she decided to stop communicating with her father after completing a trauma treatment program in 2022, at which point she had already been estranged from her mom for a while. In June, she insisted that, although she doesn’t speak to her parents often, things are now “cordial” between them.
Farrah’s episode of ‘Secrets of a Celebrity Sex Tape’ airs Monday, September 22 on A&E.
Kail Lowry Reveals She Had An Additional Surgery While Removing Her Double Chin
Kail recently had surgery on her neck and face to remove the appearance of a “double chin,” but on the most-recent episode of her Coffee Convos podcast, the former ‘Teen Mom 2’ star revealed that her double chin wasn’t the only thing she had hacked up during the procedure. Kail stated that she also had her plastic surgeon trim down some of the glands in her neck to better achieve a snatched jaw look.

“I had this bulky, like, chin/neck situation and droopy jowls,” she said on her podcast. “I think what people don’t know is that I also got my glands trimmed back, because part of the bulkiness of my neck was that I had really big glands…
“I know there was a lot of scar tissues from trying to correct if from [having] Lipo in 2016,” Kail added.
(As ‘Teen Mom’ fans may remember, Kail— as well as Briana and Brittany DeJesus— all underwent a Dr. Miami carve-a-thon that year, with each girl having multiple procedures that were done live on Snapchat. One of the procedures Kail had done by Dr. Miami at that time was liposuction to various places, including her neck.)
“That causes scar tissue,” she said. “Not anything that the doctor did wrong, but having Lipo causes scar tissue. So [my doctor] had to spend an extra hour in my neck [during this latest surgery] because I had so much scar tissue, even in the muscle. So it wasn’t just like fatty scar tissue. It was also in my muscle.”
Kail claimed that the glands that she got trimmed down were very large.
“….they just said that my glands were, like, big. And I’m emphasizing ‘big’ because I think there’s, like, enlarged glands and then there was, like, Kail’s glands,” she said.
Kail also addressed the “haters” who told her she didn’t need surgery and, instead, should exercise and eat better.
“What I had done [surgically] couldn’t have been corrected no matter how many fruits and vegetables I ate,” she said. “If I had a private chef or a personal trainer, nothing would have solved that. It would truly make my skin droop even more.”
Kail has insisted that she inherited her “bulky neck” look from the women in her family.
“I’ve said it a million times but I’ll say it again: my mom had it in her thirties, my grandma and my great-grandma, all had the jowling and the extra skin, like, bulky neck,” she said.
The surgeries on her chin, neck and glands are just some of the procedures Kail’s had this year alone. In January, she underwent a breast reduction, as well as Lipo 360 and her second tummy tuck. She has stated recently that she’s fighting the urge she has to have a nose job next.
Catelynn Lowell’s Mom April Addresses Hate She Gets Over Infamous ‘Teen Mom’ Prom Dress Episode; Claims It’s “Funny”
April put down her ciggies recently to address some hate she’s been getting on The Interwebs after she brought up an infamous scene from the early days of ‘Teen Mom’ that made her look like a less-than-stellar mother.
April— who is the mother of Catelynn— decided to talk about the hate she says she still receives over the “prom dress shopping” scene, which aired during the second season of ‘Teen Mom’ back in 2010. As ‘Teen Mom’ fans will remember, Catelynn and her mom went shopping for Catelynn’s prom dress together, only for April to ruin the day by degrading her daughter, cussing her out and being downright cruel.
After April made a TikTok video earlier this month mentioning the scene, she was flooded with comments— mostly negative— prompting her to make another video this week.
“So I’m seeing that my funny video— I thought it was funny— got you all up in arms, oh my!” April said. “I made that video, personally, because I find it funny that, after almost 18 years, we’re all stuck on the prom dress video/scene, whatever you want to call it. I really think it’s funny that it bothers all of you more than it ever bothered my daughter.
In the comment section of the post, fans were quick to point out that April doesn’t seem to realize how mean she was to Catelynn during that scene, and that most people who watch it do not find it “funny,” even years later.
“It bothers us because we see the hurt in her eyes and after all these years you don’t see it. Sad,” one person commented, to which April replied, “Get over it, [Catelynn] did.”
“And it’s something that will stick with your daughter for the rest of her life,” another person wrote.
“Funny you say that cause we just talked about that episode and laughed,” April replied.

“She laughs bc anything else will cause you to fight w her,” someone responded. “She absolutely knows what to say and what not to say in front of you for a reason.”
Others pointed out that April was not bothered by her own past behavior because she always acted like that.
“That’s bc for you it was a random Tuesday, for her it was her childhood and a moment that shaped her and what she thought of herself…” someone wrote.
“You find the trauma you caused your daughter to be funny?” another commented. “Even after she broke down and told you how much your words have affected her growing up… wild.”
“I don’t think people are stuck on it so much as seeing the results of how it is, having an unreliable mother who chose men over caring for her minor daughter & who took every moment to tear their daughter down. Criticism doesn’t equal hate. If you feel called out, think on that,” someone else commented.
April later posted a comment on her original video.
“I made this video because all you people out there in the social media world thinks that that pro[m] dressing was the worst scene ever!” she wrote. “So I find it funny yes and I made fun of it because me and Cate just talked about this last week so I knew I could make fun of it. Oh but none of you would know that because MTV is not filming anymore and MTV never filmed any of the good stuff.”

Farrah either lying or confirming Sophia is the parents and best friend in their relationship. And history repeats itself, it just looks a bit different.
Sophia had to do her own thing when Farrah couldn’t get much from her because she was too young.
i’m all for farrah not talking to her parents, nobody should be around anyone talking and treating them the same way farrah did no matter what especially when farrah rightfully so has so much anger and hurt towards them that they caused and we even saw sophia see all that
Farrah is awful, but you are 100 percent right. The girl was verbally abused and even physically abused by her mother. We only see what the camera’s caught, and that was Deb hitting her so hard CPS had to get involved – imagine what her lovely parents are doing to her when there are no cameras present. When you have a baby you are vulnerable, and her parents did not help her any by being abusive, regardless of what an obviously difficult child Farrah probably was to raise. Remember, these are good old fashioned religious nuts in the states who shamed her for even attempting to go on a date once she had a kid (not like Janelle, who was out partying with everyone and everything doing benders). No excuses for Farrah’s behaviour and the way she treats people now, but to be raised in a house with parents like that would be incredibly dehumanizing and her childhood definitely didn’t teach her how to be kind to others.
The thing that always, always bothered me about Farrah besides the hitting was not allowing her to talk about Derek. Feel that pain and wallow in it and process. She had to hold it all in and they were mean about it too. You could see how that sadness overwhelmed her and yet there is her stupid mom screaming at her not to cry over him. Telling her he didn’t care about you anyway.

Kail, dieting and being healthy may not have helped your double chin specifically, but what it DOES help is reduce all of the dangerous fat you have throughout your body that causes a multitude of diseases. Vanity should not be the main reason to keep in shape, health and longevity should be.
Though I guess since she wants to die in 20 years it doesn’t matter. Maybe she’s hoping her copious amount of visceral fat will be what does her in 🤔. She could be right!
I always figured April was so grouchy bc she was painfully hungover. I mean she always was. I guess thats not an excuse but whenever I look at April i just wince.
I genuinely feel sorry for Farrah. All the teen moms had their issues and such. But Farrah was by far the one who seemed the sickest in the head to me. Just a lost, empty, confused kind of deeply broken. And what she has done to her face is legit scary. Seeing kail with her face work right under Farrah makes you really see that someone can easily go too far. This amount of money isn’t good for anyone at all, but especially people who self loath.

People like April will never see the damage they’ve caused. They’ll never acknowledge their bad behavior and atone for it. It will just never happen and you can’t shame her into it. She has no shame.

Kail puts her shit out there FOR ENGAGEMENT, it’s literally how she makes money. She *wants* people to comment on everything she says and does, it’s why she puts that out there. Although, it’s pretty clear she’d prefer everyone blow smoke up her ass and not give her anything straight. She gets “mad” when people “judge” or “comment”, but, she’s not really, nor does she actually pay any attention whatsoever to what people say. She’s making her money off it, regardless.
A lot of her recent rants are crazy-cakes, but my guess, and I doubt I am far off, is that the engagement she was getting has dropped, and she needs to ramp it up, hence an increase in crazy-cakes quantity.

The leap you took from simply talking about someone’s body, to all of a sudden people encouraging rape and sexual assault (and yes, you can actually type those words out here) was gigantic. I really think you need to address whatever it is in yourself that told you this was a good leap to take.
While I do agree, in most (probably the vast majority) cases, talking about someone’s body in a derogatory manner usually isn’t okay. Kail’s desire to use this as a form of audience engagement to make money, kinda takes that down some pegs. That said, NONE of that will ever come even remotely close to encouraging rape or sexual assault and even attempting to link the subjects together the way that you did tells me that you have some issues you need to work on. If you are working on them, great, I really hope it helps you (sincerely). If you aren’t working on them, please seek guidance so that you can because it is extremely unhealthy to think this way.

I don’t think that Deb and Michael were the best parents to Farrah. But I feel like Michael really tried with Farrah. He was her whipping boy constantly. He did everything running around helping Farrah open up her stupid Froco yogurt shop. She sat there with those stupid Froco glasses on screaming at teenage employees while Michael ran around like her slave. He got into a physical altercation with Ambers ex Matt defending Farrah. The entire time they were on Marriage boot camp family edition Michael defended Farrah and looked like an idiot while doing it while Farrah was her smart ass self.
Regardless Michael and Deb cherished Sophia. They were good to her and you could tell how much they loved her. It’s shitty that Farrah has warped Sophia’s mind when it comes to her grandparents. You can never have too many people that love your child. Farrah doesn’t think that way though.
I’m not a Catelynn fan but April was an asshole then and she is an asshole now. She acted like a teenage brat stomping around while Catelynn was trying to be a kid and get a prom dress. Get over yourself, lady.

Don’t get me wrong, Farrah is also off her rocker. But, considering what a large role her parents played in that, I’d say Sophia is better off far away from them as possible
I can’t figure out if I missed something? Michael always seemed to be in Farrah’s corner. I know people can hide things exceptionally well, but I just never saw a tiny bit of him being cruel or whatever.
Deb was horrible. I remember when she slapped Farrah and said she was sick of her “Antichrist” attitude. I know it’s now the most awful thing, but I have to wonder how she actually treated her off camera. Farrah clearly did not turn out this way on her own.
