Jenelle Evans’ Sister Ashleigh Seemingly Confirms Jace is Back with Grandma Barbara Following His Release from Mental Health Facility

Well Barb, we seen ya wif Jace!

Jenelle Evans‘ estranged sister Ashleigh provided an update on Jenelle’s son Jace on Wednesday, just hours after the ‘Teen Mom’ kid posted to his social media, essentially letting his followers know he has been released from the mental health facility he’s been staying at for the last few months.

As The Ashley told you on Wednesday, Jace was released earlier this month, and, despite him being away for six months, Jenelle sent her pal from TikTok, Dawson Day, to fetch her kid and did not escort him herself. The Ashley posted that Jace was likely back with his grandma, Barbara, and Ashleigh’s post seems to confirm that report.

On Wednesday, Ashleigh— who has no relationship with Jenelle but remains close to their mother Barbara— posted a current pic of Jace to X, showing him in the car with Barbara (and her own two sons in the backseat).

(As fans know, Barb raised Jace for the majority of his life, but signed over custody of him to Jenelle when he was 14. Barb and Jace’s dad Andrew Lewis have been fighting Jenelle over the past year or so to regain custody of Jace.)

“Please respect Jace’s privacy & let him live his own life,” Ashleigh wrote on X. “I know all the details, the tabloids & news articles don’t know. As a private person with my family (not sister), we don’t like rumors or gossip about us on the internet. Thank you for the concerns. He’s fine.”

Ashleigh and Jace a few years ago…

Ashleigh later told a fan who asked her if Jace was in a “safe space” that, “He’s fine. I know where he’s at. Nobody needs to worry. He’s in a safe place. Please respect his privacy and just let him live his own life quietly. He needs peace.”

As The Ashley told you, Jenelle was basically caught in a pickle when she was informed that Jace was about to be released from the mental health facility she placed him in, as she had nowhere for him to go. She couldn’t bring the 17-year-old to her own home in Florida, due to the fact that her ex-husband David Eason— who’s also her current boyfriend— is squating living there with her.

“I’ve changed…and stuff.”

David is not allowed to have any contact with Jace, as he currently has pending criminal charges for felony “Assault by Strangulation,” in addition to a misdemeanor child abuse charge that he received in 2023. Those charges stem from an incident in September 2023 in which Jace told authorities that he was assaulted by David.

David and Jenelle went on to split in 2024 and officially divorced in 2025. They reconciled in January 2026, much to Jace’s dismay.

#NeverForget

David’s criminal case for those charges is scheduled to go to jury trial on August 24 (but The Ashley is skeptical that the trial will actually take place at that time.)

David isn’t the only one who will be showing his mug in court soon. Jenelle— as well as Barbara and Andrew— are still scheduled to go to court on September 9 in regard to custody of Jace. (The hearing has been postponed several times.) They are due to address several motions, and Jenelle will be required to explain to the judge why she shouldn’t be held in contempt of court for allegedly violating the custody court order she had with Barbara from 2023. (This motion was filed back in April.)

Jenelle has not commented since news broke that Jace is out of the facility and apparently back with Barbara.

Stay tuned…
