See the Results of The Ashley’s “Best of 2022 Reality TV” Survey!

2022 brought us lots of reality TV drama…and Nick Cannon babies!

Earlier this week, The Ashley asked you to vote for your favorite (and least favorite) reality TV stars, shows and moments of 2022. We waded through the weird, wild and downright embarrassing reality TV stars and shows of the year and the results are in!

Before we get to the results, The Ashley would like to thank her readers for another great year for The Roundup! It’s been….interesting.

2022 proved to be the year of Sister Wives (probably because the show was so damn good this year!) It’s also the very first year since The Ashley began doing these surveys back in 2011 that Jenelle Evans, Farrah Abraham or Amber Portwood did not “win” any categories.

On to the results!

Biggest Reality TV Trainwreck of 2022:

Kody Brown (‘Sister Wives’)

“I want to go on record and say that I believe I was named Biggest Trainwreck partly because I wear a visor, and it’s no fair!”

Jenelle Evans (and her husband David Eason) have dominated this category for years, but this year, Kody Brown— with his manic dancing, ridiculously dramatic speeches and blatant disregard for the majority of his wives and children— came in to snatch the prize and be named the Biggest Trainwreck of 2022!

Honorable Mention: Paul Staehle & Karine Martins

Most Shocking Split of 2022:

Kody & Janelle Brown (‘Sister Wives’)

“Would you want to be married to HIM?”
“I mean…she’s got a point.”

Last year, Roundup readers voted for Kody’s split with his wife Christine as the most-shocking split of 2021, so it’s no surprise that when Kody’s second wife, Janelle, told him to hit the bricks, that breakup would also surprise readers. As Kody hemorrhaged wives, viewers got to watch the demise of those relationships play out on the 16th and 17th seasons of ‘Sister Wives.’

Honorable Mention: Kim & Barry Plath (‘Welcome to Plathville’)

Biggest Reality TV Villain of 2022:

Kody Brown (‘Sister Wives’)

“I think we all know who the real villain is and that’s Christine…and Janelle…and Meri…and most of my kids.”

Kody’s back for a second year as Reality TV’s Biggest Villain. The ‘Sister Wives’ patriarch “won” this title in 2021, and continued his crazy, manic and sometimes downright mean ways all through 2022, causing many of his children to sever ties with him or be estranged.

Honorable Mention: Jason Korpi (‘Unexpected’)

Show You Were Most-Embarrassed To Watch in 2022:

Any of the ‘Teen Mom’ shows

Gee I can’t imagine why watching this would embarrass anyone…

Ratings for the ‘Teen Mom’ franchise shows declined rapidly this year, falling to historically low levels. However, plenty of you are still watching these shows–-even if you’re too embarrassed to admit it! 2022 brought three new ‘Teen Mom’ shows–- ‘Teen Mom Family Vacation’, ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ (which chopped the casts of ‘Teen Mom OG’ and ‘Teen Mom 2’ and combined them); and ‘Teen Mom: Girls’ Night In’—- a rip-off of the very popular 90 Day Fiance: Pillow Talk show.

A new season of ‘Teen Mom Family Reunion’ premieres later this week, so there will be plenty of ‘Teen Mom’ stars embarrassing themselves in 2023 to watch!

Honorable Mention: ‘Darcey & Stacey’ (TLC)

Most Annoying Reality TV Star of 2022:

Robyn Brown (‘Sister Wives’)

Also getting an honorable mention this year should be Robyn’s annoying eyebrows…

Farrah Abraham dominated this category for an impressive 10 years before this year, when she was edged out by Robyn from ‘Sister Wives!’ Robyn really showed a different side of her during Season 17. Her frequent sob sessions, condescending attitude and ability to always turn herself into a victim were just some of the things Robyn did that annoyed viewers in 2022.

Honorable Mention: Farrah Abraham (‘Teen Mom Family Reunion’)

Most-Shocking Reality TV-Related Scandal of 2022:

Todd & Julie Chrisley sentenced to years in federal prison. (‘Chrisley Knows Best’)

“Nothing to worry about, huh? Pshhh…”

The ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ patriarch and matriarch didn’t seem to worried about the possibility they’d go to prison for the crimes they were accused of…until a judge handed down long prison sentences for both of them in November. (Todd was sentenced to 12 years, while Julie got seven.)

The Chrisleys continue to maintain their innocence and have appealed their convictions; however, seeing major reality TV stars get sentenced to prison was quite shocking.

Honorable Mention: Tristian Thompson confirms he fathered another woman’s baby while he was engaged to Khloe Kardashian. (‘The Kardashians’)

Favorite New Reality TV Show of 2022:

‘The Kardashians’ (Hulu)

“New show. Same awful humans.”

I think the photo caption says it all.

Best Reality TV Comeback/Change of 2022:

Christine Brown

“I lost 180 lbs. of anger, ego and hair this year!”

Christine split from Kody in 2021 but she truly had her “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” moment in 2022. Christine quite literally was living her best life— spending time with her kids and grandkids, dating and just glowing through the year, all while Kody and his wife Robyn were being raked over the coals by ‘Sister Wives’ viewers for their actions. Christine’s transformation was truly an inspiration to many.

Honorable Mention: Sean Austin (‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’)

Reality TV Show That Should Retire in 2022:

Any ‘Teen Mom’ show

Personally, The Ashley hopes these shows stay on the air for another 40 years and evolve into ‘Teen Mom: Assisted Livin’ It Up’…

It’s been more than 12 years that we’ve been watching the girls of ‘Teen Mom’ parent, pick fights and punch each other, but it appears that many Roundup readers are ready for MTV’s favorite breeders to put down the cameras and move on with their lives…without the giant paychecks! However, it doesn’t look like MTV agrees, as a brand-new season of ‘Teen Mom Family Reunion’ is just around the corner.

Honorable Mention: ‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation’

Most Jaw-Dropping Moment of Reality TV in 2022:

Jason Korpi refuses to let his girlfriend Kylen Smith get an epidural during labor (‘Unexpected’)

“You think I’m gonna accept health advice from someone with that haircut?!”

Jason had been frequently criticized by ‘Unexpected’ viewers for controlling his then-pregnant girlfriend Kylen. However, things escalated to alarming new levels during a May episode, when viewers watched as Jason became verbally abusive to Kylen while she was in labor with their son, especially when she decided to have an epidural against his wishes. His behavior ultimately ended up getting him kicked out of the hospital– and caused viewers to start a petition to get Jason kicked off the show/planet.

Honorable Mention: Kody Brown’s “knife in the kidneys” speech to his ex-wife Christine

Overall Favorite Reality TV Show of 2022:

‘Sister Wives’

“Glad you enjoyed the diaper pal that is our relationships!”

We watched it, we laughed at it and we LOVED it! ‘Sister Wives’ had coasted along in years past, bringing lukewarm content about wetbars and property lines and whatnot. However, that all changed when Christine decided she was leaving Kody. What ensued has been the two most-interesting seasons of ‘Sister Wives’ in years, which is why this was voted as the Favorite Reality TV Show of 2022!

Honorable Mention: “90 Day Fiance”

  1. I love how first three all involve Kody. Time to find new wives! (If ANY will want to be next to these two assholes…lol)

  2. So glad Farrah and Jenelle weren’t “”winners””. It’s 2023. We’re beyond over them and their shit.

  3. I wasn’t surprised by Kody and Jenelle’s split at all. Last season, when Kody had the audacity to call Garrison a narcissist for standing up to him, I knew that Jenelle would kick him Kody to the curb.

  4. Damn I was on the money with most of my answers. This proves Ramen noodle head Kody is the most hated man on planet earth.

      1. They are both deserving of being on the most hated lists as they both caused harm to children. The emotional trauma inflicted by Kody onto his kids can be just as traumatizing as physical/sexual trauma.
