Jana Duggar Vacations in California, Tells ‘Counting On’ Fans She’s “Still Searching for Mr. Right”

“Here we go again!”

As Jana Duggar’s twin brother John-David prepares for fatherhood, Jana continues to face criticism of her perpetually single status in a family that revolves around weddings and babies.

While visiting her younger sister Jinger Vuolo in California, 29-year-old Jana posted a photo to her social media that was promptly met with comments by fans, asking Jana when she will be getting married.

Sadly, Jana seems to be peppered by this questions on a daily basis via social media. However, over the weekend, she answered one fan’s marriage-related question with an optimistic (and funny!) response.

“Would love to see you finding your handsome prince,” one person wrote in the comment section of one of Jana’s California posts.

“Maybe he’s riding in on a green turtle instead of a white horse. Still searching for Mr. Right. In the words of Michael Bublé, “Just haven’t met [him] yet!”

Jana’s response was especially interesting as her “Mr. Right” comment once again shut down rumors that she’s a lesbian. Earlier this year, Jana addressed rumors that she was dating her friend Laura DeMasie, who is often shown hanging out with the Duggar family (and specifically Jana) on Counting On.

“No,” Jana responded at the time to a fan online questioning her and Laura’s relationship status. “And I would like to stop that rumor. I have no interest in girls that way whatsoever.”

“I mean, someone has to help me plan all these quickie Duggar weddings.”

(Laura has previously denied the rumors as well.)

In that same fan response, Jana also addressed her search for Mr. Right.

“I have ‘courted’ or ‘dated’ a few guys, but so far nothing has gone into a serious relationship. Just continuing to wait and pray for the right guy to come along.”

“This is the only person I’m focused on at the moment. I’m not trying to be the next Duggar to pop a kid out on a dirty living room couch. Sorry.”

John-David’s marriage to Abbie Burnett in November secured Jana’s spot as permanent sibling raiser the oldest unmarried Duggar sibling. The next eldest Duggar sibs still on the market are Jana’s 20-year-old twin brothers Jedidiah and Jeremiah.

The new season of ‘Counting On’ premieres in October, and will certainly revolve around the Dugs’ assorted baby birthin’ announcements.

  1. I wish she would move out and force Michelle to raise those kids she insisted on “giving birth to them all.” Sadly they crippled her with a lack of education and options.

  2. I’m in my 30’s and still single… I’ve met many men that don’t want to settle down, they want to cheat and play the field. (no matter how old they get) I’ve been hurt too many times to count and learned to accept that I may never find a great guy. Tthe older I’ve become, I’ve realized that I’m okay with that. Why waste your time with a man if they make you unhappy and bring you down?
You have complete control of your life and I’m happy doing everything in my life that I want to do.. without a man telling me otherwise.
This isn’t the 1950’s and I think whatever Jana wants to do with her life is her business. She doesn’t have to follow in the footsteps of her siblings, not everyone will find that perfect love in life, or maybe she doesn’t want to right now. You can find joy and happiness in all other aspects of life.

  3. I wouldn’t want to get married either if I had my Jim Bob setting me up on dates. She should escape to California and start a new life.

  4. I think the fact that she still lives at home is more of a choice than anything. If it’s not a choice, she needs to grow a backbone and stand up to her parents. But I don’t think a 29 (almost 30 year old) would be living at home unless she WANTED to.

  5. I think she’s being smart about this. The longer she waits to get married, the fewer children she will have, and after doing the majority of the child care for Michelle, she needs a break. She also likely sees the men that Jessa, Jill, and Joy married, and realizes that marrying the first man who shows you the slightest bit of attention is a terrible idea, especially since no matter what happens, they are not allowed to divorce (I’m looking at you, Josh and Anna.) She seems very smart and capable, and I highly doubt that she needs a husband to excel in life. I honestly hope she is able to eventually break away from her fundie family and go live her best life.

    1. I honestly don’t see anything wrong with NEVER settling down and just staying single!!! There is alot to say for being independent and not having to rely on anyone but yourself!!!

    1. I had my kids at 33 and 35, both on the first try with no issues whatsoever (I realize how lucky I am, no matter how old I was) and I’m not unusual.

  6. First of all, she listens to Buble?! That makes me like her even more!

But regardless of WHEN she meets him (and hopefully he is worth it so please no Derick type of guy!), she has all these talents that they could make a great business together and hopefully he will let her work and not just be a baby maker! I assume he will be around 5 years older than her.

  7. I’ve heard, and I don’t know if this is true, that often times the oldest daughter in a FUNDIE family will remain single to care for all the children because the parents can’t be bothered. If Jana ever left Michelle would be forced to actually parent. She’ll be allowed to leave when the next crop of kids are old enough to parent the rest.

    1. Search Sarah Maxwell. She just recently got married and she’s like 37 as far as I know. So you might be onto something.

Perhaps Jana is tired from being the ‘mom’ and raising all the kids…
So maybe she is in no rush to start all over….

  9. Yeah, I know. I was almost thirty- three when I got married. Interesting that she quoted Michael Buble’ though. I don’t think they’re allowed to listen to anything but hymns. Go, Jana!

  10. I agree with Magan.

My only suggestion for Jana would be to go get an education. Not online college but enroll in a christian college, rent a cute little apartment near campus and meet some new people.

    1. What’s wrong with an online college? She works as an EMT or volunteer firefighter (or something in the public service line) so she meets plenty of people. She just isn’t ready to settle down and there is NOTHING wrong with that!!!! She is still young and when she meets the right guy, then and ONLY then should she settle down!!!!

      1. That EMT & volunteer firefighter crap was scripted for the show. She’s no EMT or firefighter. She goes NOWHERE unless she’s accompanied by an accountability partner. What’s wrong with online college is she doesn’t get the true college experience of being on campus, making new friends & experiencing the world on her own & outside of the bubble of the Duggar compound.

        1. They all have Instagram and other social media accounts (along with cell phones and texting). And if she and JD were EMT’s how did they respond to the call about Josie’s seizure?

  11. People criticize the other girls for marrying young (and marrying the first guy that comes along) and they criticize her for waiting so she can find the right man and not jump into a lifelong commitment with just anybody. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

  12. Kudos to her for being the only Duggar (thus far) who sees that life has much more to offer than just getting engaged and married at a young age so they can join the family business of baby manufacturing.

  13. I hate how everyone acts like it’s a damn travesty she’s not married yet. Good for her if she’s happy! I hope her family doesn’t shame her because of it. Let’s take a good look at Josh before we get pushy and judgmental.

    1. Right?! We are basically of the same age and people don’t constantly bug me about my private life. But it’s true I live in a world where being (almost) 30 is not such a big deal.

I rather watch her be happy looking for her garden than being married to some jerk with 5 kids and being miserable! (*cough* Anna *cough*)
