New Season of ‘Counting On’ Addresses Jinger Vuolo’s Decision to Wear Pants, Grandma Duggar’s Death & More: Watch the First Trailer

“Skinny jeans are the Devil’s wardrobe, I tells ya!”

A new season of Counting On premieres next month and…for once, the Duggar Family actually has something to cover outside of weddings and babies!

TLC has released the first trailer for the next season of the Duggars’ reality show, and it will cover some heavy topics, including the death of Grandma Mary DuggarJinger Vuolo‘s controversial decision to wear pants and how her mother Michelle Duggar feels about it, and more!

Oh, and, of course, there will be plenty of baby-themed footage because….these are the Duggars, after all.

In the new trailer, Jinger and her husband Jeremy Vuolo discuss their recent move to Los Angeles. Jinger tells us she “chose to wear pants,” and a producer asks her mother Michelle if Jinger’s decision— which goes against the Duggars’ traditional stance that women should only wear skirts and dresses— has caused conflict inside the family.

We don’t get to hear Michelle’s reaction (yet), but we see Jinger getting emotional when the question is asked. (So far,  Jinger and her sister Jill Duggar Dillard are the only Duggar girls who have dared to slip into pants and– gasp!– heathenly jeans.)

The new season will also address the tragic and sudden death of Grandma Duggar. As The Ashley told you, Grandma Mary died in June after she reportedly slipped and fell into her pool and drowned. Later that month, it was reported that TLC cameras were dragged along to Mary’s funeral, and now we are seeing the first footage from that day, as well as the family’s reaction to the tragic death.

At least they didn’t exploit the death…oh, wait…

“I got a call and [my sister] Deanna had said, ‘Jim Bob, come over quickly. Mom has passed away,'” Jim Bob tells us in the trailer.

“You just never know how much longer we’ll have,” Michelle says in a voice-over.

The new season will also contain plenty of happy (and baby-filled) moments. We get to see Jessa Seewald huffing and puffing on her living room couch as she gives birth to her third child.

We will also see all of the pregnant Duggar women posing for a pregnancy photoshoot. At the time the footage was filmed, Jessa had just given birth, and Anna Duggar (wife of Josh), Lauren Duggar (wife of Josiah,) Kendra Duggar (wife of Joe) and Joy Forsyth were all pregnant. (Joy sadly went on to lose the baby she was carrying in the footage.)

“It’s gonna be a busy few months for the Duggar Family birthing tarps, y’all!”

John-David‘s wife, Abbie, surprises the girls at the photoshoot by announcing that she needs to join because…you guessed it!… she’s pregnant too!

The new season premieres Tuesday, October 15 on TLC.

  1. People put burdens on themselves that God never meant us to have re wearing pants and hair length.
Michele is very pretty, but the curling iron bangs are very dated.
She’d look much better without them and her hair put up.

  2. Instead of making all the girls and women cover themselves and shaming their bodies, they should be teaching the boys and men to respect women and stop treating them like objects. A woman does not get sexually assaulted because of what she is wearing. I was 7 years old, does that mean I was asking for it? Teach the boys and men to respect and not objectify and stop worrying about what anyone wears.

  3. I know its horrible to tape that and I couldn’t stand when they did it with jubliee. I will say I despise the whole family but this made me cry. I loved the grandmother even though they just used her. the kids loved her fans loved her what a sad way to go

    Count me OVER the Duggars.

  5. Allow me to apologize if there was any confusion. I am both Abra and Bri. I originally posted as Abra, but I was having trouble getting my comment to post so I posted as Bri as well thinking that I could post under a different username.

  6. It’s the 21st century. Women can wear pants. We’ve been able to for a very long time. I wear athletic leggings all the time even when I’m not working out or doing yoga.

    1. And imagine a discussion like this brought you tears because OMG, my family will disown me if I wear pants! Like someone said years before, I just think they forbid them wearing pants not because of the rules of whatever but because you can see the shape of her privates and omg, that’s so defrauding (as they like to say) to a man!

Meanwhile Josiah wears such tight jeans that we see everything!

    1. Filming the funeral is just so wrong.

I wonder if they edited it to seem like she was crying over being asked about wearing pants but in reality it was over Grandma Duggars death. Jeremy is ok with the pants and he is head of her household, even if it is archaic it’s what she believes so I doubt it’s that which is making her cry. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Why does everyone have to belittle the fact that Jim Bob and Michele raised all of their children to dress decent. No one goes around making fun of all the people in the world that wear little to no clothes at all in public. You might wish one day that you had taught your daughter or granddaughter to dress more appropriate.

    1. There’s nothing decent about telling your daughters they can only wear dresses or skirts. That’s controlling, that’s a cult.

“No one goes around making fun of all the people in the world that wear little to no clothes at all in public.”

Looool what a lie this is. Are you a Duggar by any chance? If a woman wears a sexy outfit she gets called a slut. By both men and women. Seriously educate yourself on how women get treated just by what they wear before you decide to write some dumb shit like that.

      1. Seriously. I was waiting for that comment to end with some even more ridiculous, misogynistic bullshit like “they teach their daughters to dress like that because if not, they might get raped, and that’s their own fault for inviting it by dressing to show their cleavage or (gasp!) shoulders.”

In case anyone missed it, I’m clearly being sarcastic here.

  8. Ugh how awful. Sounds like a season full of tragedy that I certainly don’t want to watch and can’t imagine Joy in particular wants to relive.

  9. Poor Joy and Austin, watching this season will be hard on them.

I think they should have kept the funeral private. Not everybody there grieving has signed up to be on TV.

And I can’t wait to hear what Michelle says about the pants. I know some Bates girls have been wearing pants for a while and their parents didn’t act like it was a big deal because they were grown and married and could make their own choices about their modesty boundaries.

    1. I agree. Parents are supposed to love their children unconditionally! And to exploit the passing of their poor grandmother, it’s just beyond pathetic!! This family sickens me!!!

  10. This family sickens me, how dare they shunned these girls for wearing pant. Parents are supposed to love their children unconditionally. And to exploit the passing of their poor grandmother. They are beyond pathetic!

  11. Imagine being in a family where you had to come out about wearing pants!
How would Michelle and Rim Job bear an actual event?! I would say a teenage pregnancy, but they love that shit!

    1. They’ve turned their back on other family members for teenage pregnancy, which is about as shitty as you can get. Real Christian of you guys.

    2. …Or if one of their children came out as LGBTQ. Incestual child molestation – no biggie. A daughter daring to wear pants – pray such evil behavior away!!

  12. Ugh. Poor Joy. Seeing her announcing the pregnancy and being so obviously pregnant at the photo shoot just breaks my heart for her all over again. No one deserves to have to bury their baby.

    1. If only she had gone to an OB and had an ultrasound she would have known much earlier on that their was a fatal anomaly. It was plain as day to see on the elective gender ultrasound they got.

          1. Maybe… an ultrasound alone can’t detect everything. I am close with someone that had “healthy” ultrasounds and still miscarried at 30 weeks.

          2. Not a fan of the Duggar’s, but you can’t predict when you will miscarry. Sometimes they cannot even find anything from with the fetus. I do agree that everyone should get prenatal care though.
