Kate Gosselin has spoken out for the first time regarding her estranged son Collin‘s upcoming tell-all book.
In a series of comments left on her unrelated TikTok posts on Monday and Sunday, the former ‘Kate Plus 8′ star made it clear that she doesn’t want her TikTok followers discussing Collin or his book on her page. After admitting to deleting any comments about Collin or his book that followers left on her TikTok posts, Kate went on to proclaim that Collin’s claims of suffering abuse and neglect at her hand have no truth to them.
“[Must] have someone full-time deleting comments,” one person wrote on Kate’s latest TikTok post about her dog.
“Yep I sure am!” the former reality TV star replied. “This page is about my real life and it’s all about kindness, love, honesty and definitely not for made up accusation discussion!”
“Why are u running from the truth, though?” another person responded.
In response to someone else who accused her of filtering out comments about Collin and his book, Kate implied that the accusations made by her estranged son are “ridiculous.”
“These comments have to be filtered…” the person wrote.
“Yep! No hate here or ridiculous accusations!” Kate responded. “We speak honestly and accurately and are a positive uplifting group here!”
As The Ashley previously reported, Collin is set to release his tell-all book— In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood— in October. The book will reportedly reveal details of the abuse and neglect Collin has claimed he suffered at his mother’s hand for years, as well as the period of time where Kate sent Collin to a residential facility and refused to tell Collin’s father, Jon, where he was. (Jon eventually gained full custody of Collin after getting him out of the facility.)
On Friday, it was reported that Kate is terrified of Collin’s book, a story Collin responded to by posting a blurred-out photo of his mom, along with the quote, “What’s done in darkness will always come to light.”
Collin also reposted a video from a 2025 interview he did in which he challenged Kate to take a polygraph test, since she has always denied that she abused Collin.
While Kate has not responded to Collin’s request to take a lie-detector test, she did tell a fan on Sunday that fans hate her without knowing the whole story.
“Aww I wish u didn’t get hate u get,” one person wrote in the comments section of her post.
“Thank you me either,” Kate responded. “So many ppl think they are experts on my life. They only see bits and pieces and believe everything they read or see even when it doesn’t possibly make sense…crazy!”
Kate has rarely responded to any of the claims Collin has made regarding abuse he suffered as a child. In 2024, Collin spoke out about Kate’s alleged emotional and physical abuse, as well as his belief that Kate sent him to an institution when he was 12 years old because people started noticing the alleged abuse that was happening. Collin claimed that this abuse included Kate zip-tying his hands and feet together and locking him in a basement. Kate, through her attorney, refused to comment on the allegations at the time.
“She has no comment because it’s not going to change the past,” Kate’s lawyer stated, before adding in his own personal sentiments on the accusations. “And I don’t believe she intentionally harmed any of her children in any way, shape or form.”
Kate did, however, release a statement in 2023 when Collin, as well as Jon and their daughter Hannah appeared on VICE TV‘s Dark Side of the 2000s. During the episode, Jon and Collin discussed some of the alleged abuse that Collin suffered from his mom, and Hannah confirmed that Collin was, indeed, kept separated from her and their other siblings. After the episode aired, Kate took to Instagram to make a statement and defend herself. (Her daughter Mady also defended Kate online at the time.)
“I have never wanted to have to do this but I feel I have been backed into a corner and left with no choice,” Kate wrote at the time. “Although it saddens me to do so, I need to speak out now. My son Collin, whom I love with all my heart, has received multiple psychiatric diagnosis over the years. For the safety of myself, his brothers and sisters and for his own well-being, he was placed in a facility following years of outpatient treatment which proved insufficient for his needs.
“The decision to admit him was made by emergency room doctors following one of his many attacks/outbursts— this one involving his use of a weapon. My son’s unpredictable and violent behaviors have sadly continued regularly towards Jon, Hannah and others around him,” Kate wrote, but did not provide examples. “Collin’s distorted perception of reality is one of the many issues that he has always struggled with.”
Kate called Collin’s “complete fabrications” heartbreaking.
“All measures that were taken in our home [regarding Collin] were at the explicit recommendation of his pediatric psychiatrist and/or his team of specialists and were put into place to safeguard every member of our family, our friends, as well as our family pets,” Kate added.
During the 2025 interview that Collin recently reposted, he tells Kate that she is free to ask him about these allegations while he is hooked up to a lie-detector test, too.

“I would also let her ask [me] questions, like ‘Were you ever violent toward your siblings? Did you ever put your hands on your siblings?’ Stuff like that. I want to get into everything,” he said.

If what Collin says is lies (according to Kate), then there is no harm in her doing a lie detector test. So what is she so afraid of if she “did no wrong”?
Even if any of what Kate said were true, it doesn’t come close to explaining why she prevented his father from seeing him for years and why she rarely came to visit. Obviously, he was also deprived of his siblings. No loving mother would put him in and institution AND THEN remove everyone he loved. None of that has to do with anyone’s safety.
This is all typical Kate speak.
We’ve seen how you operate for decades, the truth is very obvious.
I couldn’t even read the rest of the story after reading what she responded to her deleting comments. Those jabs she said of “of honesty love positive etc.” excludes him. It’s like a back handed compliment and this type of berbal abuse from a narcissistic person is probably ALOT of what he had to endure as a child. As someone who has been similar in young childhood, my heart breaks for him and I HOPE he sees it is not him.

We only saw a snippet of their daily lives on TV, but it was enough to back up Collin’s claims. Trauma is encoded through a child’s emotions, meaning a sensitive kid like Collin will remember the overwhelming pain, fear and isolation vividly. What Kate downplays as routine discipline, his brain recorded as a direct threat to him. He isn’t making things up; he’s remembering exactly how scary it was to be powerless and alone in that family, due to Kate’s abuse and isolation towards him. #teamCollin

Of course she doesn’t want to discuss Collin. She wanted to erase him as if he never existed. She should have been the one locked up, not him. And when has Kate Gosselin every said anything happy or positive about anyone?

Well there’s two things you can do, Kate (that you won’t)
1 – take the polygraph test. Easy peasy, right? You could even make it into a TV special to continue milking that 15 minutes of fame & get a sweet paycheck for your troubles.
2 – file a lawsuit against Colin/the publisher/etc for libel. If you have a case & can prove his claims are false you’d win easily.
But you know what Colin is alleging in his book is legit. So you’ll hide behind “vibes” & “positive energy” & let your son twist in the wind.

Why would she entertain outburst from him? I can’t believe people can’t see how he is gaslighting her and trying to provoke her and get her attention. She is protecting him by staying quiet.
