‘The Hills: New Beginnings’ to Resume Filming Soon With Safety Precautions & Without Stephanie Pratt & Mischa Barton

When you finally get to have MTV capture your trainwreck life again after months of quarantining…

After a forced hiatus due to the C0VID-19 pandemic, The Hills: New Beginnings is set to resume filming on Season 2 this summer.

Page Six reports that the MTV reality series, which was two episodes into production when filming was halted in March, will resume filming at the end of July or in early August. However, like other shows that are looking to resume production, ‘The Hills’ will take precautions to ensure safety for the cast and crew.

Sorry Whit, you’re gonna have to start wearing gloves whilst plugging your teeth-whitening strips on the show.

“Production is working with health officials in Los Angeles County to assure a healthy filming situation,” an insider said. “They will be doing some self-shooting but mostly back to filming with the new health regulations in place for filming.”

In addition to new health regulations, Season 2 will also welcome a new cast member, Caroline D’Amore, much to the dismay of now-former cast member Mischa Barton, who previously called the newcomer “too boring.

Mischa Barton: self-proclaimed Queen of Fun…

Another ‘Hills’ alumni joining Mischa in the unemployment line is Stephanie Pratt, who faced a wave of backlash on social media earlier this month after suggesting violence be used against looters amid the nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd.

In response to her distasteful tweet, Stephanie was reminded on social media that in 2006, she was arrested for shoplifting more than $1,300 in items from Neiman Marcus and subsequently charged with theft and drug possession for said-incident.

Comments poured in on social media directed at MTV, demanding that Stephanie be fired for her actions. However, it appears Stephanie chose to leave the show on her own.

While Mischa and Stephanie are out for Season 2, fans can expect to see Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Justin Bobby Brescia, Frankie Delgado, Whitney Port, Brandon Thomas Lee, Jason Wahler and Kaitlynn Carter return to the series.

“Namaste, universe! It’s like you knew my beach combat boots needed some new laces!”

Fans can also expect to see Brody and Kaitlynn, who split shortly after Season 1 aired, getting along, as Brody is reportedly “fine” with Kaitlynn being on the show.

“He has no problem with it,” an insider told Page Six. “If the show is true to their lives, she’s a part of his life even if they’re not together.”

“So… business as usual?”

Though Brody is rumored to be dating someone at the moment, Season 2 of ‘New Beginnings’ will show him enjoying life as a single guy, though it has not been revealed yet as to whether Kaitlynn’s short-lived romance with Miley Cyrus will be addressed on the show. As The Ashley previously told you, the two dated in September 2019 following Kaitlynn’s split with Brody and Miley’s split from husband Liam Hemsworth, but their time together didn’t last long.

Also, despite her former co-stars’ wishes (and Spencer’s praying) it doesn’t appear that former OG ‘Hills’ star Kristin Cavallari will be making her full-time return to the show. She recently announced the end of her own show, Very Cavallari, following her recent split from husband Jay Cutler.

In March, Kristen did confirm back in March that she had filmed a cameo for Season 2.

Maybe throw a few more crystals in there next time, Spencer.

  1. I don’t get how Mischa was fired but Whitney is coming back. She’s a snooze with zero storyline and didn’t even show up for half the episodes last season…but ok.

  2. Maybe we will get another Heidi song this season.
    Fingers crossed

Those two better plan for the future, because reality TV is not going to be your get rich quick plan.
    I FF thru their scenes.

  3. I see this lasting 1 more season if they don’t get better storylines….but at least Stephanie’s gone. She was VERY annoying last season…and Audrina better not be chasing behind Justin again.

  4. That sucks..Stephanie was the only one i liked.. and why is brodys ex still on the show?? More importantly, why the hell am i still watching this ridiculous show??

  5. How did this get renewed for season 2? Spencer ruins the whole show before it starts and honestly last season everyone else was a snooze fest.

    1. Spencer comes off as VERY thirsty now. Seems like he went broke, got a taste of reality, so he’s really trying to really push the show in hopes of it having the same success it did in the early 2000’s, but this show is on its last leg.

      1. There’s two much time between seasons. Season one was already airing at this time last year and most likely this season that starts filming next month wont’air until next summer. People will lose interest.

        1. I think too much time has passed between the reboot and the last episode in 2010. The show ran its course back then, there didn’t need to be a reboot. They seriously had to recycle story lines from 2010 (Audrina and JB…CRINGE/DESPERATION), the reboot was so stale. If it weren’t for what Brandon Lee and Brody brought to the 1st season of the reboot, I don’t think there would be a 2nd season.

And I think Brandon and Brody are going to carry this 2nd season. Especially Brody and Caitlin, with their divorce and her relationship with Miley, and him now dating Louis Tomlinson’s baby mama. Just get rid of everyone and give Brandon and Brody a spin off.
