SPLIT! ‘Sister Wives’ Stars Kody & Christine Brown Confirm Their Breakup After Christine Left the Family: “We Are Moving Forward On Different Paths”

“I’ve put up with this man’s ego, bad ideas and bad hair for over 25 years. I’m out, guys!”

It’s officially over for Kody Brown and his third wife, Christine!

The Sister Wives stars shocked fans on Tuesday when they confirmed via their social media that they have split after more than 25 years (and six kids) together. Rumors have been flying about the status of the couple’s relationship since it was discovered that Christine had sold her Arizona home and moved to a duplex in Utah with her youngest daughter, Truely (and without Kody).

However, this marks the first time both she and Kody have confirmed that they have actually split.

Kody— who has been “spiritually married” to Christine since March 1994— broke his silence, stating that he and Christine are “moving forward on different paths.” (Kody remains legally married to his fourth wife Robyn, and— to our knowledge— spiritually married to wives Janelle and Meri.)

“Christine’s decision to leave comes with a great deal of sadness,” Kody wrote. “We enjoyed many years together and I have a large amount of respect and admiration for her. Although we are moving forward on different paths, we will always remain committed parents.”

Christine also addressed the split on Tuesday, writing on Instagram that she and Kody have “grown apart.”

This was hinted at in the trailer for the upcoming new season of ‘Sister Wives,’ where Christine expresses her desire to move back to Utah, and states that she doesn’t want to move out to the family’s Coyote Pass property and have to see Kody in a happy marriage to Robyn while their own marriage is in shambles.

“Just look at it and imagine throwing Kody off the side of it. Trust me, this has gotten me through my darkest days.”

“Why would I want to live on the property with a dysfunctional marriage where right over there he’s got a full-functioning marriage,” Christine asks, referencing Kody’s marriage to Robyn. “Who would ever want to live like that?”

In her statement, Christine says it was a “difficult decision” for her to leave Kody.

A post shared by Christine Brown (@christine_brownsw)

“After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave,” she wrote. “We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family.”

She captioned the statement, “Thanks for your understanding and compassion! #journey #hope #change #changeisgood #changeisscary.”

Many ‘Sister Wives’ fans left comments on Kody’s Instagram post, expressing their happiness that Christine finally left Kody. Many also stated that they are surprised that Christine left before Meri, who has been unhappy in her marriage to Kody (and vice versa) for years.

“Did someone say Christine moved to a duplex? That means there’s an extra unit available? Hmmm…”

“I always thought it would be Meri first…” one person wrote in the post’s comment section. “Congratulations.. time to move on.”

“Delighted she got away from the misery and heartbreak of watching Kody only having time for ROBYN,” another person wrote. “Good on you Christine.”

“Damn! Who woulda thought Christine would leave before Meri!” someone else commented. “Wow. Congrats Christine.”

Meri, Janelle and Robyn have yet to speak out regarding Christine’s decision to leave the family. Since Kody and Christine were never legally married, there is no need for them to proceed with a divorce.

The new season of ‘Sister Wives’ (which we can assume will show the demise of Christine and Kody’s marriage) premieres November 21 on TLC.

“Well at least I still have Robyn…and…the blond one…and the one with the leggings…”

  1. Good for Christine! She deserves freedom and happiness. I think Kody is only really involved with Robin and her children, and he was neglecting Truely anyway. He’s never going to change! Meri has been emotionally gone for a long time. She should cut Kody off for good, too!

  2. As far as I’m concerned, Christine is the real winner here and Robyn actually won the booby prize… just sayin’. 🤷🏼‍♀️

And as far as his statement goes, “we will remain committed parents”, I’m sure Christine will continue to be but we saw his level of commitment throughout Covid and his atrocious handling of Ysabel’s back surgery. They all deserve better… he is and always has been a part-time father, at best.

  3. Regardless of how people feel about Kody, I think it’s disgusting people are happy about this when there is a young child involved. Truely is going to live far away from her dad and her siblings which is going to result in her not seeing them as often as she should. She is going to be affected by her parents breaking up as any child would be.

    1. Almost all of Truelys siblings have already moved away, and her dad was already not seeing her often because of “Covid”. He stayed at Robyn’s house. Truely will be better off far away from that drama.

    2. She hardly saw her dad as is. Plus most of her siblings have moved away- she’s probably seeing more of them in Utah, honestly. Plus it’s better for children to see their parents HAPPY. Not miserable and hating their own lives. Being removed from a toxic situation is much better for Truely.

  4. Good for her! I always thought it was incredibly disrespectful when Kody and Robyn were dating and Christine was not okay with them kissing but they did it anyway. Kody sucks and so does Robyn.

  5. I never understood polygamy in the first place, you get to be a single parent, and “share” your husband while he actively cheats on you. You’re always broke because you have 5 kids and he’s got 20, so he can’t afford to support them all.

You are never viewed as equals in partnership, you are viewed to be subservient with also having to figure out how to support your family.

Also, Kody, why? He’s so gross, everything about this man is gross, and can’t imagine one woman fighting for him let alone 4.

  6. Wow, I figured that would all remain in misery forever.

Did Christine have a job outside of the home?
Wonder if she will continue to film?

    Wish her all the best!!

        1. I think Christine and Meri do pretty well for themselves with that company. So they would both be financially secure, especially if they wrote some tell all books and did some interviews. I only wish Meri had the courage to leave a “marriage” that has clearly been over for years, and where she is treated like absolute garbage. I’m not a fan of Meri’s, but no woman deserves that. I think all the women, (except perhaps Robyn) have been emotionally abused and tortured on some level. I can’t imagine a polygamous relationship where this doesn’t happen. Then of course you add an a-hole like Kody into the mix and there is bound to be issues. In fact, I think COVID was just the perfect excuse for Kody to spend all of his time at Robyn’s, and neglect the rest of the wives and children. It’s just really sad.

          1. I can imagine poly relationships where no mental abuse happens, just not and never with Kody.
This man isn’t able to have a healthy relationship with one woman, let alone multiple.
Robin seems to be happy because she’s not abused physically or left broke. She’s the ‘stand by your man’type and still thinks things can change. She’s blind.
He still talks to her, he just gave up all the other relationships because the other ladies want things from him. He rather gives Robyn all the attention and affection cause she is easy to please.
